Gettleman Statement?

Recommended Posts

Why has there been nothing from Gettleman regarding his departure? Wonder when we can come to expect a statement of some kind.

I honestly Can't wait until he's hired by a team next year and we are stuck with garbage Marty Hurney who nobody wanted for 4 years. Anyone who thinks this is interim is lying to themselves. Joke of a franchise we have..I'm utterly disgusted.

He's too classy. He knows everyone with half a brain understands our owner is a joke who is in the wrong. He doesn't need to say a word,

Yup, Gettleman won't publicly say a thing. He spent the last 4 years keeping business behind closed doors and that won't change now. That also doesn't' mean that he won't be honest with any future employers and/or those he feels he can privately trust.

I've wondered when and if he will have something to say. I wouldn't expect much. Wonder where he even is? Caribbean, back up North, still in town?

Another thing I have wondered (and maybe it's been said) but how much did JR have to pay to buy him out of the contract or how all that worked? Just a curiosity.

I don't think that we know what his contract details were.

That said, he is probably fielding calls from all over the league to come be some type of head of personnel type guy somewhere....if he still wants to work.

Say what you will about his "style" the guy can flat out scout football players.

I always had the impression that Gettleman is too old school to hold a grudge.  Like he always said when he did give interviews, its business and you just can't take it personally.

So, unlike many of the aging veterans he released, he's likely to react in the mature manner of an adult rather than that of the spoiled child who's been told he can't have dessert.

I'm sure Richardson told him to his face like men do, and didn't shut himself up in his office while some underling or ESPN did the dirty work.

    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
