Nitpick - The defense isn't creating turnovers and Rivera is still playing not to win

The Pats were getting pretty decent pressure on Newton in the 4th quarter, especially when Turner went out.

Turner was back in on the final drive but still not worth the risk.

They actually sacked him during that drive, only to have it overturned by a penalty.  I don't blame them a bit for not wanting to take a chance.

My contention is that out of the four games we've played, we've faced Drew Brees and Tom Brady -- two guys who don't throw many interceptions. Our old DC coached one of the other teams and knows there strengths, weaknesses and tendencies of our defense like the back of his hand. And then there was the Niners.

And to beat the Patriots all you have to do is keep scoring again and again and hope your defense stops them one more time than they stop yours. Our D did just that.

I think we're going to be fine. We'll know better after facing Stafford on his home field.

Great QB's find a way to beat great defenses.  I said before the Saints game that one game, or even two games will not determine how good a defense we have.  To many ups and downs throughout an NFL season.  Case in point, I think Denver has the best d in the NFL right now, yet Tyrod Taylor had his best game of the year against them after suffering his worst game of the year against us.  How good we are for the season will depend on our corners continuing to improve, and our defense as a whole staying relatively healthy.

? Lets not be too smart.  We got lucky at the end the 2 penalties each on third down gave us first down..we were not in field goal range at hat point...if that had not happen we would have surely loss bc he would have gotten in the prevent and instead of us kicking the field goal it would have been Patriots..and then everyone would have said he gots to go Rivera.

I just wish he would grow some balls if we loose at least he let his nuts swang in there face.

Yeah, okay.

make no mistake, Cam willed us to win that game despite the coaching. there were a lot of "i give up" plays like running on 3rd and long at the end of the game where we were bailed out by a stupid hands to the face penalty.

we don't have any playmakers in the secondary, our biggest playmaker is luke, followed by coleman. that bs we pulled while up two scores pissed me off, i mean at some point you have to learn from your mistakes.

Hopefully the new gm understands that and get's some playmaker's in the secondary, but first making sure our ot situation is finally addressed long term, also that hooker guy, he's had a int in each game this season......

but i'm glad for the win, this repeated pattern is highly disappointing however

2 things that bothered me in the game.

CMC bringing it out of the end zone.  With the touchback going to the 25 we should just kneel everyone it's kicked in the endzone, imo.

Running Cam at the end to run down clock like it's 3rd and 1.  The ball could have been given to stew instead.  I understand that we didn't want to lose yards there, but I just don't like it with the franchise QB.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
