Only on the Huddle would people want the coach of one of the top defenses fired. This place is pathetic after a loss. This team has gone to the playoffs in 4 out of the past 5 years and the Huddle wants RR, Shula, and now Wilks fired. I didn’t realize Vince Lombardi was available.

Am I correct....can only interview on bye week or after season ends.

The NFL allows a window when the playoffs start. The purpose is to keep successful coaches from losing out on jobs because they had to wait to interview.

Lol if no college team wants Shula, what makes you think a pro team would? There's a reason nobody ever wants to interview him

Last time Alabama Didnt have a guy go in the 1st round of the draft

Shula was the head coach

What makes you think any college wouldnt want to touch him.  Alabama recruits its self, and he even managed to pooch that.

As mentioned elsewhere, this contradicts their statement that they would only want experienced head coaches or longtime coordinators.

Two possibilities emerge.

Yes this could indeed just be to satisfy the Rooney Rule, though interviewing Lions DC Teryl Austin would have accomplished that without breaking their criteria.

The other option? The statement about what they were looking for came from John Mara, not Dave Gettleman. It might be that Gettleman disagrees and thinks Wilks is worth a look.

If I'm being honest, and maybe a tad cynical, I probably think it's the first option. Most of the reports done so far have them ultimately hiring Jim Schwartz or Josh McDaniels.
