What is the realistic ending to 2018 to save everybody's job?

As much as I think Ron is a decent enough coach he may have to be sacrificed for the greater good of the team.   Whatever it takes to clean out the front office is what I'm hoping for.  I want all remnants of the JR era wiped from this organization completely.  If Ron is part of that so be it.

I mean, things are still up in the air.  You never know how a new owner is going to think.  Plus,  we haven't  been through free agency, RTC,  OTAs, TC or the preseason,  so it's kind of hard to determine real expectations.  But. At this early in the game,  the only realistic answer that would save "eveybody's" job is a Super Bowl appearance.

Ron just got an extension. He goes nowhere. Hurney would get the boot first. Unless ownership comes in and just wants to nazi the whole thing and can everyone, which isn't a good sign of the future. Even if we go 4-12, Ron is still here for at least two years. The only way that happens is injuries or if Hurney fugs up the offseason.

I like Ron as a coach - minus the occasional head-scratchers, but I'm content with new ownership implementing their vision for the franchise - assuming they have a strong one.

If letting Ron go is a part of that, it's just part of business.

I've never been a Hurney fan, and I'd love to get a strong GM. I'm hoping new ownership is the type that recognizes talent, puts talent in place, and lets everyone do their work without meddling.

Rofl!!! NFCCG or you’re fired???!!??!!

i really hope the new owners are more reasonable than that.

They might be.

Ask yourself this though: How realistic is it to believe a new owner won't want to put their own stamp on the team?

The only instances I can think of where someone came in and just left everything exactly as it was were with family owned teams where ownership passed from one generation to the next. Outside of that, it's pretty common for a new owner to want to remake the team in their own image.

I'd expect everyone to be safe through this season at least. With the coaching staff that's pretty well guaranteed. Business and front office people? Not so much. They can be dumped and replaced anytime after the sale is approved without it necessarily having a major impact.

Lot of things up in the air right now.

I would flip to this question: How bad would it have to be for Ron to lose his job? Five wins or less?

From that standpoint: When you're talking about new ownership, I wouldn't even guarantee 8-8 saves your job.

Anything less than a winning season is cause to be paranoid.

Though I believe a new owner would want to come in and put his stamp on the organization,  I also think that it's a good possibility that they'll probably want to take their time and not upset the applecart but so much, because the Panthers are a pretty good organization.  Short of bombing,  wholesale change may be likely just a message board talking point.

    • Wanting that type of play and being okay with paying $55 million a season for it are two entirely different things. If Bryce were to become the same player Purdy has been, then he would surpass my expectations of him and I'd be okay with him as our QB of the future (and again, I've long been one of the bigger anti Bryce people here who doesn't think he is capable of being our long term solution). But in no world would I be okay with paying him THAT kind of money, paying an average starter elite money is just a terrible decision.
    • I don't think they can overcome that mistake. Hell Lance was a hiccup compared to this. He isn't going to be able to carry that price tag and now he is going to have to do just that. Lol. The NFL is so dumb sometimes.
    • So, one could say that T-Mac is quicker than someone of his size should be and while he might not be quite as fast as Evans in the 40, he's more athletic than Evans. If only someone, anyone, could have seen that in his tape and mentioned that on here, hmmmmmmm In all seriousness, hearing he tested in the 89th percentile in that drill at his size is crazy impressive.  Just tried to look up the times of the top WRs in the league right now, most don't show at time for that, but I did see Chase ran his in 7 seconds flat. I honestly don't know how true this is, but I do remember seeing one breakdown of his tape and the person said he has quiet and efficient feet.  That he's really good at using the minimal steps possible to make his cuts and because of that, it actually makes him look slower to the human eye because you don't see all the quick chop steps that the guys like Tyreek would use in their running. I'm still in a state of disbelief that he's a Panther and it might not fully hit me until week 1 and I see him out there making plays for us, still feels like Goodell is going to just be like, "YOU GOT PUNKED!!!  hahaha, he's a Cowboy now, suck it"
