Cris Carter "fed up" with Beckham

“Odell is going to grow up,” Carter said at the time. “That why’s he is bringing other people in his life so he can grow up. If he wasn’t trying to grow up, he wouldn’t be calling Cris Carter. He’s getting people to tell him all the right stuff. He wants to be better. Not only as a player, but emotionally, as a son, friend and teammate. He’s in the process of doing that.”

Ten months later, in the aftermath of the emergence of a video showing Beckham possibly with marijuana in a hotel room with a woman who possibly had cocaine, Carter has had enough.

“I’m so disappointed in him,” Carter said Monday on his FS1 show. “I’m so disappointed, and I expect better from him. It’s enough of the excuses. Time for you to grow up, and stop acting like a little boy. If you want to be a national brand, damn act like it. If you want someone to pay you — the highest paid receiver in the history of the game, damn act like it. All right, because enough is enough. I’m sick of talking about him and the negative aspects. I can’t talk about his releases. I can’t talk about him catching the ball in traffic. Why? Because of this. And this matters. Your images in sports will always matter. And you’re in sports, you’re not some rapper. . . .

“This guys is an unbelievable talent, as talented as anyone that I have ever seen. So I’m disgusted with the whole thing. OBJ? Call me, man. Enough of this stupidness.”

Carter’s current words become even more striking when considering the lengths to which Carter went a year ago in defending Beckham’s pre-playoff game boat trip in Miami, and it’s possible connection to his poor performance against the Packers.

A year after mentoring OBJ, Cris Carter seems to be fed up with him

    • As the demand for apartments grows parking is becoming limited and it’s sad. I use to tailgate but I just park at uncc deck now and train in and head to rhino market. My tailgate grill hates me.
    • It simply depends on perspective. CMC, when healthy and on the field, has a higher YPC and YPR than LT. Yes, he's been injury prone, but this is simply a "all quarter-century team." There are certainly different stats and different lists. If this were a list or about a team simply based on longevity, then of course LT wins that every time, but some lists are more subjective and nuanced depending upon what they are, and it's not necessarily a reflection upon a person's ability to analyze sports.
    • From my what I have seen the overwhelming majority of people who are considering the notion a possibility don't really want to see it happen but are considering so for a number of reasons. Most importantly availability. Secondly even when he plays the last few seasons he has been red hot or ice cold. Then there is the subject of his defense which to say the least leaves a lot to be desired. Then there is the image of Ball inactive laughing it up on the sideline (while our team was getting the doors blown off) with previous busts who are now relegated to hanging on by a thread in the g league. I think we should be able to recognize with the team going out of their way to put a very strong emphasis on culture and leadership with the conclusion of this years draft that they expect LaMelo to lead the way this upcoming season and that begins with making significant strides and trending in a positive direction in the aforementioned aspects above. It just has to happen.
