Is a huge concern....  Our #1 CB is less than below average corner, Bradberry, who was ranked 109 by PFF last year and our top safety is 37 year old Mike Adams.

Hurney need to address this or we will get shredded in 2018.

 

PS: Worley was ranked 89th.

I hope there's more to this story soon. I would think whatever damage is done to Breeland's foot would have a diagnosis and plan sooner rather than later...he has $24 million reasons to get some advice and get this sorted. 

Hopefully the Panthers can circle back and still sign him. We wanted him, we got him, he's from SC and we have a need for him. 

I wonder what happens now. Does another team swoop in and take the risk? Did Breeland lie to the Panthers, so we will literally not sign him at all? Could this be solved in a week or two, or is it really going to take 4 months.....it's 2018, not 1918. 

So random......like one of the oddest curve balls we've been tossed in a looooong time as an organization. It's not like a DV case or suspension for violating a league policy. I think it's weirder that he had a problem in 4th grade on the same foot that required grafting.

I can't honestly remember a prior circumstance where a free agent who failed a physical with a team still ended up with that same team later on. Couldn't definitively say that it's never happened, but if it has, I don't remember it.

What they tend to do is go somewhere else hoping that a different set of team doctors will pass them where the first team didn't. And yes, it happens. So my sense is that he'll end up somewhere else, but you never know.

Bottom line: Yes he could still end up here, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

      Ravens mixing it up with a random Mark Andrew tush push last year isn't a similar situation.  Lamar has run QB sneaks his entire career.  And often instead of a traditional sneak will even employ a 4th and 1 direct snap to Lamar simply because of how athletic he is (which even Cam did a lot of) and let him pick his own holes.

      height being an issue doesn't just mean batted balls.  You could argue Bryce minimizes batted balls by adopting other poor habits such as his jump passing and leaving the pocket.   As I said, there are plays you can point to where he clearly was blind to parts of the field/players....which kills plays and opportunity. Which actually means some of the shorter/hot throws when things break down are where his vision gets blocked (and he had below average production all around the line of scrimmage).   has he figured it out? I mean, he improved off a trainwreck start.  But Bryce Young since arriving in the league (even while figuring it out)......doesn't generate much offensive production vs his peers.  I just think his ceiling is low.   And that's not in the grand scheme what you want in the NFL.  I think he can develop into a serviceable QB, that will largely always been a middle of the pack or low end starter.

      People make a lot of noise about his footwork and I think it is overblown. Whether he takes 3 steps backwards or 5 small steps doesn't matter as long as he ends up at the right depth and is in sync with  the receiver regarding timing. If he does that consistently who cares as long as he has a firm stable base as he delivers the ball. Which he does need to work on. However even that is somewhat overblown given that often QBs have to throw off balance or from different arm angles to fit the ball around defenders. He is considered very accurate so apparently it isn't hurting him that much.
