I have a felling Marty will be shopping the 2019 3rd round Norwell comp pick to trade up.  I’m fine with that.  And still have 2 3rds. This year

Don't think we can trade a pick we don't have yet. Comp picks are given next Feb so we would have to trade our own 3rd

Sweat, Chubb & Bates would make me happy.

I really want Reid because he is a first-round talent at FS and versatile enough in packages to drop down and play CB in sub packages. We'd probably have to move up to get him, but man.....he would be a great compliment after nailing the DJ Moore selection.

I’m pretty sure you can, but it would have to be our own 2019 3rd that converts to a comp 3rd if we are awarded one, but if we got a comp 4th then they would get our own 3rd. Some other team did this recently.

Guice and Chubb still available but will likely go in second round. So if we take a rb in third round will likely be freeman or another lower ranked guy

John Kelly.  Poor man’s Marshawn Lynch.  Runs like a madman.

I compiled a list of players who (in my opinion) have second round grades at need positions.   I tried to get the list to about 25, which would almost guarantee there would be a few on the list left.

I will share because sharing is the right thing to do, and I hope it becomes contagious on this board and we enter into a spirit of mutual respect and adoration.

OFFENSIVE LINE

  • ·         Will Hernendez, G, Tex El Paso

  • ·         Connor Williams, OT/G Texas

  • ·         James Daniel, C, Iowa

  • ·         Braden Smith, G, Auburn

  • ·         Tyrell Crosby, G, Oregon

  • ·         Austin Corbett, G, Nevada

  • ·         Martinas Rankin, C Miss. St.

QUARTERBACK

  • ·         Mason Rudolph  QB Ok St.

RUNNING BACK

  • ·         Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

  • ·         Nick Chubb, RB, UGA

  • ·         Ronald Jones, RB, USC

  • ·         Kerryon Johnson, RB Auburn

SAFETY

  • ·         Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama

  • ·         Jessie Bates, S, Wake Forest

  • ·         Justin Reid, S, Stanford

CORNERBACK

  • ·         Donte Jackson, CB, LSU

  • ·         Duke Dawson, CB, Florida

  • ·         Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

  • ·         Isiah Oliver, CB, Colorado

DEFENSIVE END

  • ·         Rasheem Green, DE USC

  • ·         Sam Hubbard, DE  Ohio St.

  • ·         Harold Landry, DE Boston College

TIGHT END

  • ·         Dallas Goedert, TE, SDSU

  • ·         Mike Gesicki, TE PSU

  • ·         Ian Thomas, TE, Indiana

Good post.  While many here would more than suffice, continuing in safety purgatory would drive me NUTS!!!  Harrison pretty please.

If we got Braden, Goedert and Donte Jackson, I would be thrilled.  There is good S talent in the 5th like White and Watts.  If we can add a G and TE, we go from good to elite.  Defense is going to have to wait to next year to truly fix.

    • yeah, now it's going to get awkward.  The team circles pay attention to all this stuff.  All the wives and girlfriends see the posts.  They all talk like everyone.  Football is just a normal world outside of the fact they play a game for lots of money.  Gossip travels. They know the Theilen's want out at this point.  Carolina is now the disappointed failed trade location.    So now AT takes sort of an inhouse hit in Carolina IMO
    • Ummm... The dude looked like he was about 180 pounds soaking wet with us (I don't care what his listed weight was/is) - he would have been destroyed in the run game even more than our current and past crappy ILBs. The problem is we primarily play 3-4 or nickel/dime - there is little room on the field for him because he isnt an edge LB blitzer and he can't cover for crap. The only thing he can do kind of well is be an in-the-box safety that can try and beat blockers to the spot because of his athleticism. Washington was able to make him work last year because they used him solely as an in-the-box safety and almost exclusively ran a single high FS. The funny thing is they had good yards/game stats against the pass despite most of their secondary having embarrassingly low PFF grades. Washington was also terrible against the run, which might explain why they gave up so few yards passing.
    • Just get the deal done. We've teased it so much that the Thielen's expect it. Now we run the risk of our veteran WR locker room presence becoming disgruntled. Just take what we can get, make him happy, and get future assets while freeing up snaps for guys who will be here beyond this season.
