Gantt believes the league will force a sale to Tepper

Lol. You don't think the league can wrap up their "investigation" at anytime?? The league has more than enough info to remove Richardson from the picture/ decision making and sell to whom ever they choose. They are likely holding on to that card, as they don't want to make more of media circus, than already exists. The league WILL get the owner they want. Who ever that may be.

The only way the league could try to force JR to sell to Tepper would be through a HUGE battle that would reflect terribly on the league and bring significantly more attention to the JR allegations than there has been already. That hurts the league and not JR at all. And the league can not possibly take over the sale and force a sale to anybody but the highest bidder. The courts would have a field day with that. JR has all the leverage here. The investigation is completely irrelevant to him, he’s already decided to sell the team.

You may be discounting the American judicial system a bit. If I were Richardson, I'd meet strong arm tactics with strong arm tactics. This thing could be dragged out forever if the league doesn't play somewhat to the tune of what could be a bitter old man.

Richardson could ride out another season or two in the owners box if this goes to court and frankly, I'd be in his corner because of this.

So we're fugged either way.

I could see the league screwing us over for the rest of time if they don't get what they want in Tepper. The question is why does the league want him so bad? Is he just good buddies with Goodell and other owners? Does he have economic or dirty laundry leverage? Does the league have plans of moving the Panthers out of the USA?

that doesn't feel like enough though, all these guys are super rich and Navarro is willing to pay the most money.

It's not so much the amount of money that he has now as it is the amount of money he'd still have left over after buying the team.

On that front, the difference between Tepper and Navarro is pretty significant.

Tepper is already a part of the club. He is a minority owner of the Steelers and was being set-up to be the next majority NFL owner. Navarro is an outsider that only Bob McNair seems to like of the 31 other NFL owners.

Closest situation to the panthers...

The owners can revoke Richardsons ownership. Removing him from the process.

And you think the league wants to do that? That would be literally the last thing the league would want to do. I never said it couldn't happen, I said no one wants that. I would assume the league would prefer to give the team to Navarro and be let down than get into a messy court battle that damages the shield. Do you remember how much bad PR the NBA got through that process?

If Navarro is his man than why not go public and make the statement the team has been sold to Navarro. Put the ball in the NFLs court.  Than when they deny Navarro JR takes it to court.

The answer to this one is pretty easy.  JR knows he doesn't have the votes to get through Navarro right now.  Good money bet he's working the phones to get the 24 votes.
