Bro.. A 1st and a 3rd for a Tight End on the wrong side of thirty? You'd be a fool to not make that trade. I love Olsen man but that's something you don't pass up. Especially if you acquired Olsen for a third from the Bears. Not only do you get what you gave up but also a 1st rounder?  Yeah. No freaking way he wouldn't.

True but we could win the Superbowl this year with Greg Olsen.

He won't get a chance. We signed Poe to start. More specifically, we signed Poe to fill Star's role. Butler will remain a rotational guy in his 3rd NFL season. Great 1st round pick...

The goal is to keep your strength strong. We all knew Butler was insurance if we couldn’t sign KK and Star long term. Most NFL players don’t break until their third season which is why this season is big for Vern and Bradberry. If Vernon can contribute in anyway and just being depth with the type of rotation we run it’s a win.

Keep your strengths strong... while completely disregarding your weaknesses?

In a vacuum, sure. I agree. Keep your strengths strong. But in reality there's a trade-off for that. You have to forego addressing your weaknesses in order to do that. I don't agree with it.

With Butler, I would have been fine letting go of KK when it came time to pay out the huge contract. Just as I would have been fine letting Olsen go if we had Hunter Henry as the backup. Situations are pretty similar between the two. We would have extended Olsen and let Hunter Henry continue as backup.

Butler needs to be getting a lot of the 3rd and 6+ snaps instead of Poe. If he can’t produce in what would be close to 50% of the snaps, it’s time to move on.

And Hunter Henry would be a backup for us as well.

Not for long though at Olsen's age. Butler isn't a NT and Poe is, so Butler isn't getting any of his snaps. Butler will be a career backup for us.

At this rate, his 5th year option won't be picked up and he'll be moving on after 4 years.

What year is Olsen retiring? I can wasn’t aware he had announced a retirement date. Greg’s 33 years old. Henry just played two years behind a 34-35 year old TE.

I’d rather have picked many players besides Butler. But Henry was a luxury pick for us too.

How did Daryl Williams and Funchess look at this time last year? Both were considered busts. Now. Not so much.

I agree but some teams are deeper than you think in key positions and it pays off. If I told you the Eagles would lose their starting QB, RB, multiple starters on defense and their starting all pro LT...would you think they would win the SB? I would think QB,RB,LT are key positions.

Well, to be fair. Most teams would fold if they were to lose their starting QB for any length of time. Them have Foles is a much bigger deal than them have some quality back ups at other positions.

That "Next man up" mantra only gets you so far. Losing a starting QB is a yuge blow to overcome. They got lucky on that one.
