Lorenzo Doss could intercept a roster spot

Don't eliminate Lorenzo Doss from your 53-man rosters quite yet.

  • Doss was projected to be a 4th-5th rounder in the 2015 draft--Denver took him in the fifth, where he played behind Talib, Harris, and Roby.  In 2016, that secondary was the best in the NFL.
  • He ran a 4.47 at the combine.  He is 5'10" and 24, fwiw.
  • He had 15 interceptions in college in 3 years.
  • At the Broncos camp last year, he was awesome.  One reporter tweeted during a scrimmage with SF, " Another pick 6 for Lorenzo Doss! That's 9 picks in camp so far. "

So far, he has been a ball hawk in Carolina.  Today was the third straight OTA with an interception.

Q:  SO WHY  DID THE BRONCOS CUT DOSS LAST YEAR ON THANKSGIVING DAY?

A:  He missed a meeting on Thanksgiving day before practice.  It was not his first missed meeting.  Denver was 3-9 and Elway wanted to send the team a message.

It just seems that this DB understands how to get interceptions because he gets them whenever he is on a football field.  Buried on the bench of the best secondary in the NFL in Denver (aided by one of the best pass rushes in the NFL), expect Doss to fight Corn, Captain, and Seymour for a spot on the roster.  We could use a ball hawk in the secondary.

I have been saying this for a while--the CBs on this roster are young, improving, and could be a real factor.  They are not going to be the Achilles' heel many believe.  Just watch.

Lol keep him over Seymour? I would say Captain with no hesitation.

This is my first thought--a post Jun 1 cut...save some money.

Problem is cutting Captain doesn't really save much and he's definitely our best nickel on the roster. And no Jackson is not a nickel. With no TD first 4 weeks we'll be running a ton of nickel CB and we need Captain for that.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
