REPORT: Panthers hope Daryl Williams will return in second half of season

Williams is trying to rehab the injury rather than having surgery and will remain out long enough that Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he is expected to open the year on injured reserve. As long as Williams remains on the active roster through the cut to 53 players, he’ll be eligible to be designated to return after eight weeks on the list.

It’s a much bigger risk for Williams than us and if he wants to do this then fine by me.

He also want be 100% until after surgery. Hopefully it all works out and we sign him to a decent contract.

Where the huddle doctors at? Is this a smart move?

Not at all.

Believe Trent Williams had the same injury prior and tried rushing it. Didn’t turn out so well and clearly didn’t look the same.

ProFootballDoc also advised against it.

If the MCL heals well I could see him back in a few months. Not sure what kind of grade the tear was but if they’re considering the conservative route it must not be too significant.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
