Is it safe to assume Steve Wilks is coming back as DC next year?

Dude is definitely getting fired from Arizona. Panthers seem to have a big opening at DC after the failure of Eric Washington. Safe to assume he's coming back?

Can’t be worse than Washington. Heck, maybe Norman will get cut, we sign him and plays with Wills again, he has expressed how much he loved playing for him.

Not so sure about that. He wasn't even that great here. If we are definitely keeping Rivera he should keep running the D. Feel bad for Wilks, he's a good guy and I think he is a good leader and could be a better HC than he was DC for us. Was hired as a HC way too early and then put in a very sh*tty spot in AZ this year. Stupid to hire a HC for 1 year and then fire him at all, let alone when the GM gave him zero talent and a rookie QB who was not even close to being ready.

I’d take him back in a secondary /assistant head coach role in a heartbeat and pay him good money. Rivera needs to be running the D

That would be a classic panthers move. Maybe we should hire Fox as the next head coach?

It’s not safe to assume anything. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ron retained Washington and gave him back full control of the defense.

It's not safe to assume, but it's a possibility.  I didn't think he was all that great, but he had a pitiful secondary to work with.

A bonus would be some familiarity with out defense after 3 straight different Dc's.

But for those who want Ron fired, remember that there just aren't enough OT's to go around in this league?  I think the same is true with coaches.

Didn’t really like him as a DC to be honest. He was a great secondary coach though. Would love to give Kris Richard a shot at DC but Ron is too much of a coward to hire outside of his network

Ron needs to be running the D, he will be coaching for his job come next season.

I'd take him back as a secondary coach before I would as a defensive coordinator.

We have the legendary Richard Rodgers in that position now though, so...

Some didnt like his blitzing.  But dude got more pressure in 1 game than we did this whole season.

 

Only issue with him and his blitzes.  It left Bradberry on a island and exposed him.  You need GOOD CBs not Solid CBs for his D

There is no reason to bring him back as DC. 

As much as Rivera may want to have a DC, we haven't had a good one since buffalo took him. 

I'd like Rivera to lead the defense. Shouldn't be to much. 

I'd also like a game manager to be hired, but I won't  hold my breath.
