You may have misread me. I want him gone but I can see why they are waiting until they have to make a decision. Whether it’s a smoke screen for FA (draft is too far out). He should 100% be cut prior to 3/15. If he’s on the team past that, I’m pissed that we wasted money.

I should have been more clear and I agree. I had no intent to lump you into the group following that article's nonsense. I still think the smoke screen idea is way thin for FA signings. There is no way no one knows our intentions regarding Kalil, his contract and our needs if they take any time to do their research on us. Maybe there is some kind of angle there but I just cant see it. I guess nontampering tampering period?

I understand that it’s the knee Gurley had surgery on.  But if this doesn’t give our front office a wake up call to get a back to spell CMC they are flipping idiots.

Not to worry. They figured that out last year.

(a few months after cutting the one they already had)

The article speculates on microfracture surgery as an option, but that's very hit or miss. There's also talk of stem cell treatments, but overall it doesn't sound good.

Shame, too. He's a super talented player.

Agree, possibly the most exciting back in the league not named Christian McCaffery.

Hey if this really is it for him he got way further than guys like Marshon Lattimore. There's plenty of life after football, especially when you start with that much money. Tough break but he's still in a great spot in life.

This.  If he hasn’t already he should really start having weekly sessions with a financial advisor.

Come to think of it, any 20something millionaire should do that.

Reminds me of William Anderson who was a running back with the Falcons back in the '80s. The guy was a monster on the field and had a yards per carry that outstripped the rest of the NFL. He was going to be a bonafide star in the league by his second or third season. Bad knee injury, recovery and then his return to the field was short and sad.

It's a fickle career in the NFL, even for the greats. I hope the young man can recover fully and reach his potential, but if not, he's still lived the dream.

Yall feeling sorry for a guy who will have made more money in 5 years than the entire Huddle has/will make their entire lives. He will be fine.

I don’t think anyone feels sorry for him from a financial standpoint.  He is one of the most talented people in the world at his job/position and will likely no longer be able to do it.   It’s a shame.

Wouldn’t it have been nice to have a comp pick or cancel out a FA pickup to make sure we get comp picks for Williams and Funchess? So stupid to cut a potential FA before the season is over. I wish Hurney got stuff like that.

Comp picks require the free agent to sign a contract with a large average annual salary and get significant playing time. That was not going to happen with Anderson given that it didnt happen the prior season and how ling it took land in LA. Hurney seems to know this. Just read up on the compensatory pick process.
