Patriots release DE Adrian Clayborn

Idunno, lately when the Patriots release a player its usually for good reason if its not salary related...... minus..... Kyle Love and a couple other exceptions. 

Either way, he'd be an upgrade here

Well the last guy that left was 37 going on 38. Clayborn is 30 going on 31. So technically.. he would fit the going younger idea.

He is on the downhill side of his prime and we need younger players.

He is a younger player. Compared to Pep. (Shrugs) no I'm not saying I want him here. I'm just pointing out he's younger, relatively speaking, to Peppers.

I thought about posting this as well, having thought about that dominant game he had against the Cowboys in 17...  then I looked at all of his stats.  I mean, maybe on a league minimum and hope for the best, but he has not lived up to his draft position.

Having young players is great but having affordable veterans is important to locker rooms. I wouldn't consider him old anyways.

"Old" is kinda relative to position. Being 30 as a quarterback or a kicker isn't the same as being 30 as a receiver or a corner.

Being over 30 as a pass rusher? Not necessarily awful depending on the player, but a concern.

he's one of the best DEs available.  The clock is ticking.  A 2 or 3 year stopgap works for me.  Put with Addison and a draft pick and we're looking a lot better.

Adrian Clayborn is a rock-solid defensive end with no weaknesses. He logged a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2017, though six of them came in one game where Dallas' inept coaching staff didn't adjust for Tyron Smith being injured. He predictably saw that number dip to 2.5 in 2018, but still played well overall. Unfortunately, Clayborn turns 31 in July, so he'll regress rapidly in the near future.

You are right, but we won't be able to get only younger players.  We can only get so many in the draft, so we are still going to have sign some older ones.  Of course, I don't know if this guy should be one of them.  But signing him won't prevent us from drafting a DE or two.

Folks this aint a day care.  If he can play at a high level, estimate the number of years he has left--and pay him a bargain salary if he will take it.

If we get a year or two, that would be OK...However, you have to remember that while he is on the field, developing talent  is not.  In  our case, we need a quick fix and an long term answer.  Do not forget, Addison is a year or two OLDER than AC.

They also picked up Ealy after we dumped him.
