Left Tackle

Since Gross retired and thinned out; we threw out the likes of Byron Bell, Nate Chandler, Matt Kalil, Chris Clark, etc. to insanely awful results.  Fans have been clamoring for a true left tackle, not some true RT convert, trying out a guard there, etc. etc.

Okay, I will give the negative nancy's the benefit of the doubt that he underperformed in an offseason bowl, kay...and came into school hyped to be a top-5 draft pick LT plug and play. So, sure he may not have lived up to THAT hype and had some inconsistencies, but I implore you to consider the following thang:

This is a prototypical LT that can do a few important things well: play wide and handle speed rushers.  That is critical.  There's a lot to be optimistic about crew.  LATERAL QUICKNESS to Cam's left.  The league isn't a bunch of mauler 3-down 4-3 DEs anymore and Cam needs this type of guy on the line.

Also, this is a crapshoot; if this kid works out, we've got a near ideal frame at LT: 6'5 310 10"+ hands, 35 1/4 arms.  That is a bonafide LT.

perspective. we need it.

we've sucked at trying to replace gross. we finally did it.

this is like the dj moore pick from last year. we finally replaced a much needed and missed commodity. it may not be exactly like the old. it may not be as good as the old. but it's definitely a lot better than the status quo and it's a step in the right direction.
