How good would Sapp have been without all those guys behind him?  Would he have willed the bucs to a championship himself?  That’s what he is inferring.  Sapp would still be an excellent player with no playoff wins without those other guys.

What a fool.

Well I mean let's look at all those playoff games he won in Oakland

Bucs would have never won a Super Bowl if their head coach hadn’t been the head coach of the team they played in the super bowl the year before

Exactly... and Jon Gruden has milked that for 16 years and counting now.  He was a good coach in Oakland in his brief first appearance and in his first year with the Bucs.  But those were him coaching teams he didn't build himself.

Outside of that, he has been mediocre at best.  And I do agree he would have never won a SB had it not been the Raiders he was playing against.  I think the Raiders psyched themselves out by facing Gruden.

I did like Gruden as an announcer, but I think his natural ability there helped gloss over the fact that other than the brief period from 2001-2003 when he caught lightning in a bottle and had everything happen right for him, he has always been overhyped as a coach.

    • To be honest, I didn't read or hear of any decent goalies who may have been available. Sure, there was an article suggesting Florida may offer Bob, but look what happened- they're actually talking about a new contract for the UFA net-minder.  On the other hand, here's how someone else categorized the crickets chirping from the Canes: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3481704/winners-and-losers-from-2026-nhl-trade-deadline The Hurricanes were in excellent position to make a splash but did nothing other than add some toughness to their fourth line in Nicolas Deslauriers. That's awfully disappointing for the Eastern Conference club, which entered the deadline with four first-round picks over the next three years, a strong farm system, and more cap space than any other contender. While Carolina doesn't have any glaring holes, upgrading the second-line center spot should've been a priority. Can it win a Cup with 5-foot-8 sophomore Logan Stankoven in that role? He's likely better suited to play wing. Adding a goalie would've helped, too, given Brandon Bussi's inexperience and Frederik Andersen's struggles. A depth defenseman wouldn't have hurt either. The Hurricanes have a pretty straightforward path to another Eastern Conference Final, considering how weak the rest of the Metropolitan Division is. But nobody should be surprised if they're once again outmatched by whoever emerges from the superior Atlantic Division, in part because of the inaction by GM Eric Tulsky. --------------------------------------- Exactly what a few of the astute regulars on this board have hypothesized, I might add. And if a handful of fans can see this.... well....
    • Dude, if last night was a good win... (these are but a few choice lines from your posts last night). "Did Rod‘s  fuging ass really go with Anderson again over Bussi three games in a row? What the fug is happening with this bullshit organization?" "I fuging hate this organization so much. fug you rod." "Freddie sucks. What the fug" "Blue line sucks.   PK SUCKS. FREDDIE fuging SUCKS."
