The one-on-one matchup we keep losing is Ron and His Band of Idiot Coaches versus whoever is coaching the opposition. We lose that battle every time. Missed opportunities, Ron. Missed opportunities.

I think this is likely on target.

The Bucs decided not to let one person beat them and dedicated extra attention and resources to CMC. We watched one journeyman LB who averaged 3.5 sacks per year rack up 3 in one game and will need to give more help next time to stop the next OLB from setting a personal record.

I’m guessing the help RR refers to here is when Barrett only had hits and pressures instead of sacks. I don’t blame Williams so much, he is playing out of position and being asked to do things beyond his abilities.

Given his track record, it's amazing how long he will takes this beating before going away from his vision and going towards trying something different regardless of personal opinion or philosophy. I wonder if we just put Little as a extra blocker next to William's the next game or old Manhurtz?

As much as I love the Panthers I have no interest in hearing what Ron has to say.

Me neither. It's always the same story. Missed opportunities. Players failing to make plays. He and his staff are flawless. They always draw up a brilliant game plan and call the exact right play to expertly exploit the weaknesses of the other team and our shitty players just can't take advantage of these opportunities gifted them.

Ron’s calling plays now. I don’t think people realize how big of a responsibility that can be. He no longer gets to focus on the high-level stuff, like timeouts and clock management and the flow of the game.

The proper move was to find a proven, adequate defensive coordinator with experience in multiple schemes. This back-and-forth with Eric Washington, and then just giving the play calling duties back to Ron, it doesn’t feel very analytics driven. It feels sloppy and cheap.

And before you tell me how great the defense has played: They have played slightly above average. With all the attention on the new scheme that isn’t really a new scheme, and with the added pressure on Ron having to call plays, folks had higher expectations than this.

I am still amazed that people listen to these talks and expect to learn anything from them. Ron does say the same coach speak every week. They all do

Well the other team made more plays than we did.

We have to get better and improve.

Its a long season and we have to take them one game at a time.

And on and on.

I don't listen to it because I know what he is going to say before he says it. Coaches hate these talks and do them because they have to.  Anyone with a modicum of IQ accept them for what they are, more tweets and stories for reporters who dissect every morsel of pablum they are being  fed.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
