Hypothetical: Cam is released after the season, where does he go?

I know it’s kinda soon to be talking about this, but it’s a Sunday without Panthers football and pessimism is in the air.

It would save the Panthers $20m+ to release Cam in the last season of his contract this offseason. If the team moves on from Rivera and co, this would set up the new staff with a lot of cap space. 

So if he is released and desires to keep playing, where could we see him land?

1) Miami Dolphins. The team all but certain  to have the #1 overall draft pick in 2020.  Cam could sign with the Dolphins as a stopgap while a top draft pick QB sits for a year. They could also pay him a LOT of money.

2) Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger is most likely at the end of his career and the Steelers could be in the QB market this offseason. Could they use Cam as a stopgap while they groom a young QB? I think it will depend on what they get out of Mason Rudolph this season.

3) Cincinnati Bengals. Andy Dalton is another struggling QB likely nearing the end of his tenure on his long time team. Another place Cam could land as a temporary solution while grooming a young QB.

4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This season is a make or break one for Jameis Winston. He has already been benched by the previous coaching staff and time will tell if the current one will sit him there too. Tampa could definitely be shopping for a QB in the offseason and Cam could be a top target.

5) Retirement. Cam hangs it up, leaves the game relatively healthy, and focuses on his clothing lines and charity works.

Just some ramblings on a Sunday without bad Panthers football to complain about.

Probably to the saints or bucs so he can beat us twice a year. I don't think cam is done and can't play at a high level again like some clowns on here do

I hesitated to put the Saints down because I don’t think Cam would sign there as long as Brees is starting. He would want to start for sure.

I think he hangs up the cleats if we cut him this offseason. His body is breaking down. It wasnt a bad move when Luck did it and it wouldnt be a bad move for Cam. He has alot of other things going on.

I know Igo believes he might retire.

Thing of it is, given all the history and everything here, if he plays badly enough that the Panthers would be willing to release him then there may not be a huge market.

Agree...financially he and his family are set for life. Retire at 31 and live the life he chooses.

Cam has done the right thing and made investments and interests into things other than football. He has set himself up to take care of himself and his children. I believe he would retire.

If he does throw in the towel, a wish would be to get a QB like Joe Burrow....just a dream, probably end up with another third or fourth round scrub.

Not sure if that’s the case anymore. I definitely think he could rebound but right now it doesn’t look like football is fun for him.
