The majority of yesterday sacks were coverage sacks

Our secondary is solid (Cockrell looked good last night). I just wish Ron didn’t play then 10 yards off the line of scrimmage...

In this case we were clearly running a bend but don’t break scheme. It worked. Murray got 3-6 yard completions but his YPA and even YPC were horrendous. 41 passes for 170 yards.

Noticed this as well.  Against that offense, it's probably the right call.  That offense is designed to score a lot of points quickly.  Making them drive the field works against them.

While I agree, our secondary did a good job, our pressure was good.  We didn't get many quick sacks, but we were getting good fast *pressure*, making Murray uncomfortable in the pocket.

It always works against mediocre qbs and rookie qbs. An above average qb carves them up. This was game where the scheme was perfect for the team we played against.

We give up way to many first downs with easy passes because there's no defender close. We got lucky the cardinals receivers dropped some wide open passes too

This was intentional. We wanted to keep them from attacking deep, so we gave them short routes but locked up deeper ones. This is obviously not a plan for every week.

Secondary is worlds better, Tre Boston and Reid look like a good tandem so far.

Yeah the pass rush wasn’t dominating like the stat sheet shows, a lot of times it was kyler running in circles in the pocket.

Luckily he might be the most explosive qb we face all yeah.

We got bailed out by 3 drops that could have changed the game entirely

    • I watched a clip of all the offensive snaps. Young threw into some tight coverage and the guys made some plays on the ball. He also really missed some throws.  He has this middle of the field thing into a tight window pretty good and made three or four nice plays but he was just too inconsistent with his accuracy especially in the red zone. Today and in general.    That Int where people were chastising Legette for ‘not fighting through the coverage’, he in no way could have gotten to that ball. IMO. I think he thought it was going to hit the ground and didn’t see the defender coming for it. But not sure what he could have done. The camera doesn’t show the spatial relationship very well, I think the ball was way off. maybe 6 feet or more off target to the inside of the field.  Rico is a beast. And a very good receiver.   That was my impression without dissecting and rewinding, just letting the video roll. I did rewind the int two or three times to look at that one.
    • My biggest issue with keeping Darnold, which I felt we should have done, is we would still have Fitterer. And everything that came with that.  I think Morgan is going to be good.  Baker, just did not play well at all here. Not sure what else we were supposed to take away from it at the time.  That’s my short ‘I don’t want to argue about it’ take.
    • Even if we somehow make the playoffs we will be one and done so fast. Seattle, Rams, TB, Panthers, Detroit and Philly are all better than us.
