A healthy Cam or CMC who do you resign?

Depends on how much CMC is used. At the pace he's going, I dont think you can ink him to a huge deal. That RB wall is real, even though there are a few exceptions here and there.

Cam, who knows what his healthy is going to be. If its 5yr/30 mil a year, you have to move on. The risk is too high at his age and playing style to miss significant time. It would undoubtedly suck, but it's a decision that will have to be made at some point.

What I want to happen, Cam and CmC both take extremely team friendly deals, we somehow manage to recruit players to come here below their market value (like Golden State) and put together a loaded team for a couple SB runs.

I think both players have it in them to work with the team to get deals done and stay here. Neither guy strikes me as the type that would hold the team hostage like we’ve seen Zeke, Bell, Brees etc do

Part of what makes this team awesome. I really don’t think think we have more than maybe a couple of guys who think they are bigger than the team.

The title has 0 to do with anything but making a choice on signing Cam or signing CMC. If it comes down to that who would be the one that stays if not both. Cam and CMC are valuable to this team and it will be hard to get another player of their caliber and ability skill set.

Totally agree which is why I created the thread. I just have a feeling it does come down to that.

So...we should shed both Newton and CMC within two years?

Yes.

Two years is enough time to form a plan. Cam could still prove he can play, the tag could be used on either Cam or CMC. Sadly the nfl has a nearly 40% turnover rate year-to-year along with being a young mans league. Trading could land a few picks too. I love both, just thinking about future.

Would you be fine with paying 33 year old Cam 40 million per for the next six years? (With no contract exit)

Would you be fine paying a 2,159 snaps played CMC 15 million to be on IR?

I'd absolutely be ok paying a 25 year old CMC 15 mill per for 4 years. Hes only 23.

When it comes to the dollar, anything is possible, never underestimate the power of the dollar...  plus, why wouldn’t you want to capitalize on every penny you can go, this is a physical sport, anything can happen, the franchise will still be around and making its millions if you get hurt and you’ll be out of luck wishing you capitalized as much as you can on your contract.

I don't believe the Panthers should (or need to) invest big money in physically abused superstars long term, especially if they are injury prone and approaching the twilight of their careers.

What made Cam special was being a dual threat, big armed QB.  We haven't seen that Cam since 2015.  If CMC isn't afforded another running back to spell him a break, Norv will end up running him into the ground just like Cam has been.

Carolina now has the greatest number of legitimate scoring threats on offense it has ever had in the team's existence.

What the Panthers require most of all is a stout offensive line to create time for a game manager QB to complete his passes and create gaps for a couple of decent RBs to run through.

The offensive line is where the smart money needs to be invested going forward.

CMC has 629 yards in 4 games and 4 touchdowns. He's easily the teams best player and while normally I'd shy away from a rb after his 4th-5th year, dude is in superb shape and takes extra care of his body. I think he can play for 10-12 years easily.

No.. all those same things could have been said of cam before shoulder injury. And Cmc is carrying the ball at a record breaking pace more than cam. No rb has been immune to physical breakdown.

When I mean a healthy Cam...I mean a healthy 30 year old Cam.

The problem is Cam is a 30yr old with the shoulder of a 52yr old man.

Can't turn back time with the shoulder.

CMC healthy vs. 31yr* old Cam w/ 53yr* old shoulder....

....survey says, CMC.

*By the time this bridge is reached he will be a year older.

Both. Even if Allen balls out the next 5-6 games & Cam comes back healthy we don't have a good enough sample size and n Allen for a big contract, plus Cam is an injury risk. Best case scenario is Cam gets a few more years as Superman, helping to develop Lovey into a pocket guy that keeps the offense going at a winning level.

If either of them demands an insane contract, they leave.

What the hell
