Shaq Thompson and Bradberry

I don’t know about max but a decent healthy contract for both. BB deserves a check I’m just not sure he’ll be able to live up to a big contract. Shaqs looking good in his first year in this position still early in the season for his extension talks.

Shaq shouldn’t get too much of a raise from what he’s getting paid now, bradberry will

Before the season we thought Shaq was making a lot. Now that 9 million he is making this season is a bargain. The man will get pay well. It’s always the next man up. Kwon Alexander got 13.5 a year and Mosley got 17 this past offseason. Shaq will be getting a nice big raise.

I do think Bradberry is worth top three money at his position. Closest to a shutdown corner that we have since prime Norman.

Shaq, although only in his first full-time season. He has only been average until this season. I don't consider him elite, he's just above average whom benefits from Luke. I think our backups aren't a terrible drop off. I'm thinking just an above average contract for his position for continuity purposes otherwise let him go.

BB just quietly performs.

He’s a slightly worse version of Chris Gamble.  You never heard from Gamble cause teams totally stopped throwing at him like ever. Even after he got his pay day he still balled out and you heard nothing from him. One of the better Panther defenders ever to wear the uniform. People just forget about him cause the dude was so quiet lol

Well, Hurney freed up cap space this year. Too bad that he did so by pretty much guaranteeing that we keep Short in 2020. Such a stupid move since that just eats up an extra $14M we could have used for these two. Well at least Short’s playing balls to the wall this year and last so I’m sure he’ll be worth $14M next year.

Incorrect.

We save 14 million if we designate Short as post-June 1.  KK has *no* guarantee.

Wrong, June 1st just spreads the hit over 2 years. That can of course be a nice short term tool, but does not help to afford long term deals for both Bradbury and Shaq.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
