Anyone else concerned?

In a grand turnabout, no QB's involved in the thread!

So I was just browsing stats now that we're halfway through the season and came across this . . .

FG %

XP %

Not that there is much we can do about it . . . but . . . bottom 25% of the league in both stats is definitely concerning to me.

more concerned w/ the blocking up front.

Syle is what he is.  A big footed kicker.  He will miss some.  Trade off is he will give you a shot at kicks others can't.

Lot of pressure getting through of late impacting kicks.  That is my bigger concern.

Seems to me the blocks and some misses were due to guys crashing from the edges or coming right up the middle. Seems like Slye isn't necessarily the biggest concern.

Stat is skewed a bit by blocks, kicks that would’ve been blocked had he not kicked around the defender (which is why it was missed) and a free kick attempt that was very long and never practiced... 1 PAT missed is not horrific, even Justin Tucker missed one last night.

Hmm...interesting...Slye is not as accurate as Gano....imagine that.

LOL at everyone who was so dead set on cutting Gano for Slye this preseason. Gano going on IR was not as good a thing as everyone thought.

we blew it by not keeping butker. Dave's final gift and we threw it in the trash for Ganope

I don’t think he is the long term answer. We need to go find a K this offseason. Gano isn’t it either. Draft one late and bring in a UDFA. Let them compete for it. I definitely don’t want to go pull one off the trash heap right now. Would much rather stick with Slye than what is out there currently.

I mean, that was literally his exact FG% (71.4) in 3 of his 4 college seasons including his final year...so no one should be particularly surprised except for those who were trying to argue in the preseason that we shouldn’t pay any attention to his college performance.

His insane leg strength is such an asset that I’m still holding onto hope that he can improve his consistency.

Stat is skewed, kicker not the biggest concern, opposing team crashing the edges, kicked around a defender.....

Why didn't Gano get all these excuses?

The Gano hatred is so obvious, half of you would trot Stevie Wonder out there and be searching for excuses why he missed just to keep Gano off the field.

Gano? You’re joking right?

you do realize we didn’t even attempt kicks Slye is attempting with Gano and he’s a rookie and he’s not injured AND he’s paid in gummy bears.

come on man. It’s not the same thing.

The anyone should be pissed about anything it’s the incompetent staff letting Butker go.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
