Yeah, they did.

I don't get it.

I assumed injury since he wasn’t active but who knows.

Many felt otherwise but I had said a healthy Byrd was the best option we had a returner in years and we proceeded to let him walk. I’ll never understand the devaluing of that position.

YESSSS! I finally get a former Gamecock not named Damiere Byrd to cheer for!

On a serious note, this is a good pick up. He's got power but still has pass catching ability. Definitely an upgrade over Bonnafon.

The guy who Chicago paid then watched him never do anything so they cut him?

We didn't already have good backs on the roster that we aren't using?

He’s a good back, was solid in a starting role in Seattle last year. Issue in Chicago is their coaching staff is incompetent offensively and they drafted a stud workhorse in Montgomery this year while having Tarik Cohen too. Wasn’t room for him.

Very interesting pick up IMO.  Not your typical cut as the Bears wanted a comp pick. He has a chance to surprise and is definitely good insurance right now.  Nice move.

Surprise whom? Doing what?

Surprise the janitorial staff with how early he shows up to do film study? Surprise his teammates with an impressive knowledge of 18th century Chinese artwork?

I'm kinda groping for what you mean by surprise, because clearly it won't be football related. In order to surprise anyone when it comes to football, he'd need to get on the field, and considering Reggie Bonnafon has barely seen the field AFTER taking one 50 plus yards to the house, and Scarlett seems lost in some sideline space/time anomaly ever since looking like he deserved a few reps after his preseason performance, I would not want to bet on Davis's odds of actually getting on the field while a game is in progress unless he plays special teams.

I find this move baffling given Riverboat seems unaware his team even has backup running backs available to spell CMC.
