An undermentioned side effect of having a subpar season

CMC was always a bit of a long shot of an MVP candidate with the numbers QBs out up in today's NFL, but he's probably going to rewrite single season record books this year and he may not even get a vote if we end up going 6-10 or 7-9. That's a damn shame.

Last I saw, he was not even winning the pro bowl votes over Cook.  No way he gets MVP with people like Wilson and Lamar balling out on teams that are winning games.

The MVP award has basically become the crowning of the QB on the best regular season team. With the way the rules are slanted to benefit the passing game these days I just can't foresee a non-QB winning it again.

He'll still be a first team All Pro which is great for the future prospects of his bank account.

It's not under mentioned when everyone knows bad teams dont produce mvps. That's a widely accepted understanding.

It's exactly why Rivera needs to go. He's wasted Cam's Career and if we let him he will do the same to CMC. We need a fresh coach with fresh ideas

Yeah, he's on pace to break the record for yards from scrimmage in a single season, but if we're eliminated from playoff contention in the next few weeks (a real possibility) you pretty much have to shut him down, wouldn't you say?

The record would be nice and all but that's not a reward that I see being worth the risk.

Tread carefully I'd say.

Does CMC "want" the record?  If so, do you really want to shut down a guy who wants a record that's within his reach?  If you do shut him down over his own desire for the record, do you think you can then re-sign said player?

I see a lot of variables in this equation that need to be carefully evaluated.  I don't think it's simple at all.

I'd say it's on CMC to make that decision.  I know if I was in that position, I'd go for it.  It's not often that this record is in reach.  Mine as well take something from this season.

Hard to fathom but as of now we stand at 5-6 with two players on offense in the top 20 in scrimmage yards...
