i like how romo is opening up doors for a completely different kind of announcer

like CBS and everyone else has realized no one wants some dumb stiff like Joe Buck just saying "Name. Pass. Touchdown. Team."

Just let Kuechly sit up there and diagnose the play presnap like Tony does, then talk poo about bad coaches.

Kuechly would have the play diagnosed and then be way too polite to talk poo about it.  That would be his downfall.

I don't get the opinion that he would not be a great broadcaster.  He comes across as very well spoken in the on field interviews.  Broadcast coaching would polish him and put him in high demand.

TV is more money. But TV will be there for Luke after his coaching career. Greg is a little more suited to go straight to TV.

I dunno, once you hit coordinator and up, you’re talking millions. I think the top end of coaching makes at least as much as tv if not more. It’s just a ton more hours.

Which means more time away from loved ones.

I'd imagine they also have a few thoughts about what they'd like to see him do.

Tony Romo's new deal is reportedly in the $10-14M range per year. Keep in mind, Rhule is the sixth highest paid head coach in the NFL at $8.5M per. Belichick is #1 at $12M per. Romo literally might be making more to announce games than any head coach in the NFL. It's insane. I don't see the value add to be honest. Is anyone really tuning into a game because of Romo's announcing? I mean my god, we watch games called by Booger McFarland. Sure, we all bitch about it but we still watch.

Preach on brother. I had no idea they’re paying Romo that much. I actually really like him and think he adds value but still yeah, 14 large in value?

Jesus I hope no one is paying Ron Pitts or Tim Ryan anything remotely like that. I mean if you started a Gofundme to get Fox to fire those two, I’d put money in.

I'd be a little disappointed should he decide to go into broadcasting but hey it's his choice. He'd do well as a broadcaster though I feel like he was pretty much meant to be a coach. Hell we all pretty much said that the after the few games we had him on the roster. Don't see too many people with a football IQ as high as his and I think his knowledge would be best used teaching and mentoring players on the defense.

The one thing Romo's announcing made clear to me is just how hard it is to fool a seasoned NFL QB. I'm sure he's not doing near the prep work that he was doing as a starting NFL QB and I never considered him anywhere near the level of say a Peyton Manning pre-snap, but still, he's sitting up there in the booth and more often than not pretty much telling you what's going to happen on both sides of the ball before it's snapped. It's gotta be really rare to catch a seasoned QB truly off-guard on D with a play call that gets them in true WTF mode. We saw that Pats do it to Sam Darnold over and over this year, but he's still really green and honestly you have to put a lot of that on that coaching staff. When your QB admits to seeing ghosts out there, you gotta take some blame as a staff for not having the guy properly prepared.

I think coaching would be a more natural fit based on his demeanor but I say he should pursue the broadcasting side and see where it goes.  If I could retire right now my pursuits and interests wouldn’t necessarily be what I’m really good at so why should Luke’s.

If it ends up not being for him coaching will still be there.
