I believe he most likely is, seeing as how we don't have an answer to QB on the roster, and have too many major needs to draft one.  All depends on if he is healthy, though.

I know a lot of people pushing him to be gone will be disappointed.

If we get rid of him despite being healthy, I just don't see an option that will improve the team available.  For years to come.

TCH, you normally bring solid facts to support your argument.  I always read your posts---so I was a bit surprised by the phrasing here because it suggests that people do not like Cam.  People will not be disappointed to see him stay if it were only about 2020 and the player.  But there are many more variables, like 2021, his next contract, his upside from here/his age and injury history, and the rebuild.

However, if you want to stick to Cam the player only, let's take a look at the reason fans might be disappointed.  He has not thrown a TD pass since 2018.  He has not won a game since around October, 2018.  He has lost the last 8 games he started.  He has missed 15 of his last 18 games.  This is the third year he comes to camp nursing an injury/off season surgery.  Throwing away entire seasons waiting to learn the inevitable---Cam, the QB in the league who has taken more hits--some brutally vicious---has hit the wall.  He can no longer run like he used to and he is not a great QB if he has to earn his living in the pocket.  That is reality-take away his running and compare him to the most average QBs in the league and he is mediocre, to use a Tepper word.

The teams refusal to commit to Cam is significant. You don’t do this to a “franchise QB”.

He may end up staying but it is clear they are thinking of moving on.

not really they always refuse to comment on anything like this contracts and so on. Its the carolina way.

So the absence of evidence is now the evidence of absence lol.... Now where saying because he wouldnt comment cam isnt coming back? Again i dout cam outright comes out and says hes here next year if not given some nudge, and rhule has also said he hopes to win a super bowl with cam. All signs point to cam coming back. this is just another last ditch effort by those who want to see change drummed up. this isnt news.

Why in the world would ANY GM make a pronouncement on Cam's future without seeing him in extended practices showing off both his arm strength, accuracy and mobility?

Cam might be better than ever before, he might be just a shell of his old self. He could be something new and different. He could be enthusiastic about working with the new coach, he could be reticent and difficult. No one knows and no one will know for a couple of months. And in the last year on Cam's contract, it would be foolish for a GM to be making any kind of pronouncements that could be used in contract negotiations or could tie a new coach to a worn out player.

Patience, one and all, it will be revealed in time.

I am a huge and consitant critic of Hurney but this isn't news and i can't see what the issue is. I want to know what the hell is going on with the team now that everything is up in the air but it won't come down for almost 2 months in all likelyhood. If Rhule and staff is going to have any input on the team building process I just don't see how they have had time to properly evaluate the roster while also being a part of the scouting process.

you mean like cam's camp reporting he would be ready after the bye last year?   there are signs he's coming back and signs he's not.   people are just siding with what they want.   i don't think he is, i think its clear cam is making a last ditch effort to put the org in between a rock and a hard place - like an instagram influencer making threats.  i don't think he understands tepper.   but i could be 100% incorrect - just like you could be.   hes not my favorite player so its easier for me than you

What would be wrong if Hurney said "if cam is healthy he is our qb"?

what would be wrong If he said we were def gonna win the super bowl.... nobody likes saying definitive statements. Im sure he would listen to a blockbuster offer and keeping all options open, but no coach has ever gotten anywhere by showing his hand early and thats what this is. It isnt in the teams favor to make just a end all be all statement.

He probably would have played after the bye if not for the oh allen is goat nonsense. He might not have been 100% but he would have went out there. I dont think cam is making a last anything. he been silent this whole time on it. but when he does finally speak out oh hes just saying that. yall believe what yall want to just like anything else. Dont ask for information if yall wont accept it from one of the most reliable sources himself...

For those who have ulterior reasons to want Cam gone, they’ll grasp at anything to be evidence. Especially since there has been nothing said at all to indicate his departure other than rando garbage journalists trying to pass off speculation as “insider sources”. The only reputable statements made have indicated Cam will be back. All other reputable statements have been neutral “we have to wait and see” type statements.
