David Tepper meddling

Missing what David Tepper had done to meddle in the team he owns

Gave Ron a extra year, half the people here already hating on him we're pissed when he gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Kept Marty Hurney. So firing everyone and drafting himself is what you wanted him to do? You can't make a decision on Marty... The GM everyone speculated Tepper wants AND Marty's contract expires in April... DT isn't going to tell the media Marty sucks, but we're stuck with him until after the draft. It's probably the truth, the Steelers GM will likely be hired and Marty will be head of scouting or assistant GM.

Brought a MLS team to Charlotte: god it's horrible to help our economy

Building the team a REAL practice facility and complex.

News flash nostalgic people, you wanna whine about free agency, players don't like to practice in 100 degree days while sleeping in college bunk beds... All so you can go watch them on grass hills suffer for free. It doesn't give you a competitive advantage, it costs you FAs... Those same people who complain about wofford will talk about Jerry's ballroom.

Cam Newton. Whether you like the decision or not, tepper hasn't even made one yet... Frankly, our franchise seems like Cam Newton featuring the Carolina Panthers. If Tepper feels like healthy Cam holds the team back, then I guess it's his investment.

I feel there is a difference here then Jerry Jones (the one people love to compare him with) who is literally the GM of his football team... Even then, if you don't have 2.7 billion to offer tepper, vote with your wallet and root for another team.

If you think owners are not involved, get real. Bill Belichick wanted to trade TB and keep JG, Robert Kraft stepped in knowing it would cause a circus. A franchise that has 6 rings this century... including one after that incident.

You think The colts owner had no involvement in 2011 moving on from a multiple time leauge MVP, Super bowl winner, and career Colt QB Peyton Manning to get Andrew Luck?

Buck always stops with the QB. Doesn't matter if you have two Christian McCaffrey's in the backfield. People are going to ask who is throwing the ball. Quarterback worth his salt will always be the face of the franchise. If Cam is judged only by his W/L record meaning we go as he goes, why are you blubbering about people discussing him?

maybe it isn't "meddling" by your definition - but he's firmly made his stamp on this team, for better or worse (and won't shut up about it either).

equal chance of us looking back in 3 years and saying "wow, amazing!" as saying "wow, atroicuous!"

just as long as we aren't saying "missed opportunities" or "it is what it is"

Kevin Colbert signed up for another season in PIT. So he’s out.

Can you really meddle in something you own?

true.

it isn't meddling when you just don't have a clue what you're doing.

it's like buying a porsche and letting your self proclaimed "great" driver (hurney) take it 90 in a 35 on a drunk joyride then wrapping it around a tree.

Meddling implies he owns it but doesn't know what he is doing, he is getting in the way and/or treating it like a toy and not a business. If he is involved in the business but adds value or stayed out of the way after hiring people to run it then it wouldn't be meddling. Too soon to know for certain but it certainly could end up that way unfortunately. The way he kept Hurney, hired the VP and hired Rhule are not encouraging but it really is early.

And the fact that he feels the need to find every camera in Charlotte and be his own personal hype man for the moves he’s making just scream lack of confidence. don’t boast until you’ve had success. real Gs move in silence like lasagna.

“Hurney is the greatest talent evaluator Eva”

”Matt rhule is the best program builder EVERRR and will build us into a perennial championship contender with all of my infinite resources”

yeah....prove it

    • Jets are so screwed they think they're getting a leg up by not announcing who is starting at QB lol. That being said Tyrod still might be an upgrade to our qb room.
    • It's his lauch pad throws. In school he was behind great blocking and it's like he ran into his throws that went down field to WRs that had so much space they could adjust and still be ahead of the DBs.
    • We don't know 1) where we're going to end up picking in the draft, or 2) what QBs will even declare for the draft, let alone which ones will be worthy of considering in the 1st round. That being said, I feel like our best bet may be to pursue a veteran with some upside that could be at worst a productive stop-gap until we can draft our actual QB of the future and, at best, another Baker/Darnold/Daniel Jones late bloomer redemption story. So... Mac Jones, anyone? The 49ers have him under contract for 2026 and will almost certainly entertain offers for him after his performance this season. Also consider that while many here have soured on Bryce Young, there are almost certainly still executives in the league that would take a shot on developing him as a former 1st overall pick. If there is one team - and one coach/scheme - that could get the most out of Bryce Young it's probably Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers. I wonder if they would be interested in a swap of former Alabama star QBs with 1st round pedigrees? You could argue which team might have to throw in some additional compensation, but it could be a good deal for both teams. The Panthers would get a QB who would be an immediate upgrade with potential to be that next Baker/Darnold/Daniel Jones redemption story and the 49ers get a backup to Brock Purdy with a skillset that Kyle Shanahan might just be uniquely qualified to tap into it. Any takers?
