The Athletic: Explaining the trade and what it means for Carolina

Baylor played against Grier while Rhule was coach and put up huge numbers. I think he is the backup. I don't know they think Herbert is such an upgrade unless guys like Brown, Kinlaw, Okudah, and Simmons are all gone and of course Taylor and Burrow go 1 and 2.  That would leave Tua and Herbert as the top picks at QB . I think we go defense at 7 with one of the guys above. Everyone of them could be a game changer right away.

Nothing would shock me but hey at least it will make for an interesting offseason. I still think they go Simmons/Brown/Okudah/Kinlaw at #7 or trade down

If one of them is still on the board and we trade down I will be pissed. Each of them are potential impact players immediately. It is hard to pick between them. I want all four. But if we don't keep Bradberry, then Okudah is an imperative. Hands down the shutdown corner you need in this league.  I just hope he doesn't get abused for 3 years before he pays off.

I don't think you take a guy like Simmons with our needs up front.  You need a guy who is as close as possible to a guarantee to plug in as an every down player on our D Line.  Brown fits that bill, Simmons does not.  Brown looks an awful lot like a Star Lotulelei type player.  His measurables are VERY similar.  Our biggest weakness last year was run defense, and this guy is a mountain.

I don't think he will make it to us.

Yeah.. After that 4.39 and him being that weight and height.. It confirmed everybody's tape... Its like having a bigger faster Honeybadger you can line up anywhere and be a problem... Every defensive coordinator in league had a swoon moment watching him.. He isn't making it to us.. It could push Okulad to us thoe...

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
