It’s not really a known value yet. I think it’s about 3% but most of the deaths are from China which may skew that number. They will have to analyze the data from those that have died. Like most respiratory viruses those that are immunocompromised like the elderly, babies, and those with chronic conditions are where the deaths come from. The problem is science doesn’t know much about the virus yet. So I understand the precaution.

All this fear of Corona virus is getting out of hand since it isn't as bad a s people have thought since the only deaths were with the elderly that have respiratory problems. According to a NY Doctor that specializes in this sort of thing said making this a pandemic is immature and there is no reason to consider it as a pandemic.

Young children that are infected very rarely show any symptoms but can transmit the virus. So anyone with children going to school should be extra aware if they start feeling ill

3% is skewed from the high %s in Wuhan province. Rest of China is closer to 1%, and thats not even considering people who have it but are unaware and think its just the flu / common cold

Yea lets wait this thing out and see where it goes im pretty sure  the MORE people infected the easier it will be to stop it

The problem is we have millions of at risk and elderly folks in the US. Hospitals cannot take in a massive influx of folks who need ICU on top of other reasons people get put in ICU. This is very scary and even people who are not at risk need to think about the people in their lives, their family members, etc. who they can give this to. 
 

this virus spreads like wildfire and is wayyy more contagious then the flu. The flu has a death rate of .01. This has a death rate of 3.4%. Even if it’s just 1% that is a HUGE deal. 
 

people really need to think about social distancing, especially to people who are at risk. Wash your hands. Cancel plans. This is serious. Do not play this off.

Fine, use 1%. That’s still a lot of people.
