I don't recognize this team anymore

I agree, it’s weird to see everyone I’ve watched play football for the past decade be gone. Unfortunately we didn’t win it all when we had the chance. We could have been better for longer. The younger part of our core (Cam and Luke) took some major injuries in their prime and sadly both of their productive careers have been cut short or derailed. Had they not taken as bad of hits maybe they’d still be here. It’s a mix of not having the right talent to capitalize and bad luck. I love those guys so much and am sad to see them gone. I support the Panthers, but it’s hard to like Tepper right now. I don’t care about Hurney, he’s going to be gone soon. Rhule, I want to like but also don’t have a lot of trust in right now as a guy who tells it straight. He might be a great football mind and program builder but I’m not sure I trust him as a man. We’ll have to see. Right now we’ve got Teddy, CMC, DJ and Shaq as maybe our true core. Shaq has been to the Super Bowl and will carry the LB torch. CMC has been to the playoffs and will fight for the team. Teddy has been on winning teams and to the playoffs and he’s hungry to lead a team. We still have a small flame of the past on this team, it’s up to the coaches to rekindle it and get it blazing again.

Good.  The old team sucked for the most part of the last two decades.

There's a big difference between a floor of 7-9, like most of the 2000s and 2010s had, and what's shaping up to be an 0-16 season with basically no light on the horizon.

You have no idea who I am, or what I do or like. I m sure their are many more like me who aren't the "wine and cheese" crowd. I will bitch if I want to, I have paid my dues with this team.

I have paid my dues also, but I choose to act like a grown man and not complain about things you have no control over.

I'm not personally effected emotionally but I can understand if someone is. There are some who react emotionally when their favorite character on a TV show or film are killed so I get it.

Same here. I guess you can equate it to an obsession in some respects.  I personally can't understand falling in love with someone you've never interacted with in person for a enough time to know whether you like the person or not.   Humans are strange.

Honestly I was totally ok with a full reboot, maybe not the Cam part but even that sure whatever, but that's the problem we AREN'T rebooting. We are tearing it halfway down and keeping some odds parts, while adding odd parts. We have no semblance of a plan.

It's funny.  So many people on this board screaming to "blow it up".  When they finally do over half the board screaming "what the hell are they doing". So many people hated the way Rivera was doing things and before him Fox and you finally get what you have been asking for and you want to go cry to mommy.  Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
