Given all the talk in the NFL right now that Kaepernick DESERVES a job, who do you think gets signed first?

Clearly, I think that the logical and better option HANDS DOWN is Newton but given the political/social state in the US right now I could see Kaepernick getting that option first...

What is interesting about this topic is that not many teams are needy for a QB right now. So if one is signed before the season (my assumption is Kaep) it will be to send a message of support, and not in terms of need.

The other side to this is: how would you feel if you were Kaep and you were signed not because of your talent, but for a purpose?

Mainstream media brainwashing people to think a guy who hasn't played since 2016 and was a borderline starting caliber QB is going to come back and start somewhere.  If the NFL wants to go far left and put politics above the product on the field, I could see it happening but this is just a cute story and nothing more.  At least the media got a few more million clicks.

Kap isn’t worth what he thinks he is, that’s the problem. He got a job offer from the Broncos after the 49ers but turned it down because he wanted more. Add to the fact he really isn’t that great and would need a strong supporting cast to be successful for that reason and being out of the game longer, he’d be a real tough signing for any team.

Cam is the same way. Until recently he didn’t even consider a back up role, which makes sense to me but starter spots are limited. I think he will get his shot. He has a lot more upside to Kap, it really isn’t close.

This is from a football perspective, as far as support/politics I’m not going to speculate what teams think about that. My considerations would revolve around talent and chance of success...you know, football.

It really comes down to which is more willing to take a low priced back-up QB gig. There just isn't a starting QB spot open and both would have a lot to prove before anyone would make the big move... for Cam it's that he is finally healthy, for Kaep it's is he still able to perform and you'd have to be gamble that he was better than his last work on the field was.

I still think Kaep will be the first with a job, or at least an offer. The PR win is too good not to take Kaep on (if he'll sign). Cam, I think, though, would be the better player once on the team.

There's something else to consider with Kaepernick that I just thought about.  Would he get the MJ baseball treatment?  He obviously has a lot of people that agree with his political stance and I could see the players giving him information about the defense to make him appear better than he actually is.  If you consider this scenario, he could actually be a decent starter and might make it worth for a team to make him a starter.   Would it really be a bad investment for a team to pay him 15-20 mil for a 1 year deal?  I'd like to see it happen.

    • This draft is 2023 all over again, it's not hard to see. QB's who don't grade out as high first round prospects while at the same time, the following draft class looks to be loaded with elite QB prospects. Drafting a QB just because you need one (or making a bad trade to make said draft pick), when there isn't one worthy of that draft pick, is how you ruin franchises, just look at us right now.
    • I upgraded to the S24+ a few weeks back. Very happy with it.
    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.   And yes, I've never said I'm not a T-Mac homer. But me being that doesn't change that he will be the highest graded offensive player in this year's draft, at a position we haven't been able to solve since we lost Smitty.  Taking him makes all the sense in the world, my bias aside.
