If McDaniels and Cam get that sh*t rocking in NE, I think it will show how awful of coaching and management we had here with Cam. But that's an unknown at the moment.

I can see Ron's legacy completely changing though if Cam has second life and wins playoff games.  It would show that they tried to jam a square peg through a round hole with the lackluster Shula system, and we never really utilized one of the most dynamite athletes to ever play the game.  The team rather didn't give him help and refused to curate a system with most opportunity for success.  They never really knew how to have a team around him which was just so frustrating.

High probability of this happening. It's going to make Carolina look like a bunch of knuckleheads.

Weren’t some people in this forum saying Cam wanted a new contract, that’s why we signed Teddy.

No one knows for sure but you’d have to be pretty dense to believe Cam didn’t turn down an offer for vet min, a contract like what he just got, from the Panthers. If Cam told them hey I’ll play for vet min...you think Tepper would say no? In fact it was probably better than what he ended up getting.

Common sense along with following the events (commitment comment, Panthers talking to his agent, not willing to be a back up until months later etc.) reading between the lines tells you he wanted more, the Panthers weren’t willing, and Cam was wrong about being able to get what he wanted in FA and vet min was his chance with the only team willing to take a risk on him.

Just being devil's advocate...

What if Cam bombs in NE and Ron wins the NFC East? I know there are numerous intangibles that should be taken into account, but that would all but end Cam in the media. Cowherd would eat that ish to pieces!

My best case scenario for me would be Cam tears it up in NE, and the Panthers start to maximize their potential. I'm just tired of wasting so much talent on this team. Friggin generational talent at that. And I don't normally like to use the term "generational talent". But this team has had more than a few with nothing to show for it.

I don’t think Tepper wanted Cam anymore, he wants to build his own team. And by your point that means the panthers some how rescinded Cam’s $20 million in order to give him a vet minimum, which I never heard of

Not rescinded, the Panthers we’re paying that that no matter what team he went to. But an extension and/or restructure to be able to stay with the Panthers for what most likely would have been a 1-2 year contract that made sense.

There’s no reason for the commitment comment, no reason the Panthers talking with his agent if there wasn’t at least something in the works. Whatever was in the works Cam didn’t like, but I can’t imagine it was any worse than the vet minimum he just took. But maybe it meant taking a pay cut/restructure from that 20 mil and of course as you said it’s unheard of though it has happened.

Only problem with that dialogue is that he was MVP in 2015 under Rivera and Shula and led the league in offense. Then he was injured in 2016 when he got targeted, took us to the playoffs in 2017 but got injured again in 2018 and 2019. I don't think that really means he was wasted. Seems when he was healthy we were a playoff contender and when hurt he struggled. I don't think that the majority of folks outside of Carolina think Ron was the problem or that Cam was wasted. Just saying.
