Donte Jackson injury update

Starting cornerback Donte Jackson suffered an ankle injury during Jacobs' first touchdown run and did not return. Rhule did not have an update on the injury or its severity, anticipating he'll have one on Wednesday.

Technically, Rhule does have an update and knows exactly what the situation it. He just isn't required to say poo about it until Wednesday when the first injury report comes out.

I know this is probably not correct but for me it felt like after Ruggs had that long completion and then TD that Jackson was just like "eff this I am not chasing him around all game" so he said he had a sprained ankle.   I guess we will see how bad it really was on Sunday

I mean, medical people can tell whether you've actually sustained an injury or not. At minimum with a sprain there is going to be swelling. I cannot begin to fathom a coach tolerating his medical people telling him there is no injury when the player said there was one and just letting that kind of nonsense slide. Jackson might not be bright, but I'm pretty sure he's not dumb enough to make up a nonexistent injury that a trainer could tell in 30 seconds doesn't exist.

    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
    • Alright man! We're here for it! Just glad you're keeping the doors open!
    • I think we've seen improvement in Bryce's performance. It still isn't up to world beater status, but in Canales defense, he can say that the limitations of the player were hit. I think he survives that even if Bryce doesn't. Still, I think it's a 50/50 shot for Bryce to make it. QB is one of the toughest jobs to do in the sports world, if not the most, so the failure rate is really high, no matter the pedigree. Heck, Archie Manning gets a lot of credit as a great QB but anyone who saw his career in motion knows he wasn't really that good and he was surrounded by bottom of the bowl players. He did get it figured out with his sons, though. That grandson... maybe.
