Video: A closer look at sacking Teddy

Here are three sacks that the Carolina Panthers gave up to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This is a coverage sack. The only open receiver during this play is Seth Roberts but Roberts never even looks for the ball until he is 30 yards down field and Teddy is in the dirt.

The fumble is on Teddy. He has to protect that ball better.

It doesn't get more obvious than this one. Suh treats Miller like a training sled and pushes him directly into Teddy. Not great, but Suh is a good player and will do this from time to time.

This is on Okung. Notice he is by far the last one to react to the snap. Everyone else is almost a full step into the play by the time he gets out of his stance. The play is over in the .5 seconds Okung failed to react.

We were single blocking Suh there, zero help, not even a chip.  All things considered, Miller did a decent job directing Suh toward the pile of players on the left of the line.  Teddy could have done a little better stepping up there.  It's not like this was a blind side pressure.

On that last one, even if Okung got his man, Moton and Miller got beat by a stunt there.  End came crashed inside and Moton followed him while Miller got caught in the wash.  The DT (looked like Suh) was free to the QB.

John Miller doesn't look good in any of those.

In the second one, Matt Paradis is already turned in the direction he's going to go before the snap and leaves Miller to single block Suh (with predictable results).

On the third, I'm not sure if it's bad technique or just a reaction to how fast the rusher gets off, but Okung is already turned around a fraction of a second into the play.

Yea our OL is poo and has been poo for what 10 years now...doubt anyone would moan if we drafted a QB with our top 3 pick then OL the rest of the way.

OL QB OL OL OL OL OL - Can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. Line is a much bigger concern for us than the QB position.

Why get Grade A steak if you're just gonna throw it in a meat grinder? Might as well get some chuck, because you're just gonna end up with a burger anyway.

If we aren't in a position to take a QB, let's just draft 7 offensive linemen and call it a draft.

Side note on #3, Bridgewater probably would have gotten his fuging head taken off by Suh on that stunt even if Okung had blocked well.

"Man, it's a good thing our QB was already sacked or else he would have been sacked more violently."

Yeah no, our O Line is doing just swell.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
