Interesting QB Rankings

This analysis creates some interesting groupings. Most would agree that Wilson/Rodgers are in a tier of their own this season by the eyeball test, and there's a small group of elite QBs behind them (Josh Allen's presence there is totally predictable, but did not expect Carr or Goff to be there).

Teddy appears to be leading up the group of good, solid, winning-caliber QBs in the mid-to-high tier. Also impressive how steep the dropoff is at the bottom - it's clear there's a "not an NFL QB" tier down there. Whether this metric does a good job of taking circumstance, play calling, and protection into account isn't clear to me.

Interesting to see who Teddy is behind, and who he is above.  Outside of Mahomes' criminally low marks (come on, wtf guys), the approximate groupings actually make sense and its hard for me to argue strongly one way or the other without knowing more about the other players on their teams.

Mahomes actually hasn't been that great this year, compared to his standards/expectations. It make sense that Wilson, Rodgers and Allen are all quite a bit above him. Those 3 have been absolutely on fire this year. It's not even a knock on Mahomes being quite a bit behind them.

Daniel Jones sucks idk why Verge always thought he was good

I hated the pick and completely hated it at 6th overall. I saw a few minutes of his 2020 play, Hes not bad at all. Just makes a terrible throw and it gets picked. The OL is below average and hes had to play hero ball too much. Lost black CMC and their TE cannt stay on the field. Gettleman has done no favors with his free agency signings either, needs them former superstars form the former GM but there were none. That giants roster was hella bad, I believe the first year he had 5 wavier claims at cut down. That lead the league and showed how poor the roster was. Issue is hes has not improved in 2 years and that division is super weak. Gettleman needs to be watching madlock and stealing batteries during the season now.

I'm not sure what he is really supposed to do given the game script and talent around him. He has plenty of potential, and we have seen it, but he had been stunted.

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
