Derrick Brown named NFLPA Community MVP

Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown‘s off-field work has been recognized by the NFL Players Association this week.

Brown has been named the union’s Community MVP for this week. The 2020 first-round pick hosted a drive-thru Halloween event in Charlotte that distributed $50,000 worth of costumes and other holiday items to underprivileged children. Brown has also planned other monthly events through his foundation and worked to help local families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic after being drafted in April.

“It’s a blessing to be named NFLPA Community MVP,” Brown said in a statement. “I’m grateful to use my platform to give back and support those in need. . . . I look forward to continuing my impact on and off the field.”

The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to Brown’s foundation or a charity of his choice. Brown will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award at the end of the year along with the other weekly winners.

DB is the new TD

There's no question that the leader of the Panthers for a long time was Thomas Davis, it wasn't Cam, or Kuechly, or Olsen... TD was always the leader of the locker room.

I just get the feeling that by the time he's being signed to his second contract he'll be viewed in that same way.  When he was drafted there were tons of stories about him being that type of guy for Auburn, and I couldn't be more impressed with this kid since we drafted him.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
