And this is only his second year. Gotta think next year and the year after he’s gonna be making more jumps especially as those around him get better. I’ve said since his rookie year and watching his traits that he was a 15+ sack type of player. The things he can do at his size are extremely rare.

remember when Ron Rivera benched him because he punched the ground in frustration after just missing blocking a kick

couldn't have any emotion out there. that's not the Ron Rivera way.

I think he injured his hand / wrist because of it, that's why he didn't play (what's with the John Fox ? did Ron get golden calf of bristol'd ?)

yeah but he was healthy enough to play special teams after that, just not DE.

And yeah Ron, not John. Distinction without a difference tbh tho

If a QB doesn’t drop to us that we like I’d keep drafting lineman on O and D in the first two rounds for the next several drafts. I’d follow the 9ers drafting model until we can secure a legit QB.

I am really like the LT from Notre Dame and I like Barron, the MLB from Ohio State in the second round.  In the third, there are some good center options that would be a probable upgrade.  If we could do that, I would sleep well after day 2.

I know, some are saying, "What about S?  What about CB?  What about TE?

Free agency--maturation--healing.

While I should stop here, nay nay.  I sorta think our CB position will be fine.  Here is why--Douglas is serviceable if he is not on the #1. Jackson has been injured and is not as bad as we make him out to be.  Elder is having a better year than Munnerlyn did when the horns paid him big money.  Pride needs more experience, and there might be something in Stantley. whatever his hyphenated last name is.   Throw in a free agent, and get a stud S behind them, and we can start playing with less cushion and more aggression.  In other words, we need to heal and mature instead of an overhaul.  In a perfect world?  maybe overhaul, but if we address the OL, the DBs are not on the field as much--addition by subtraction.

I am spent.

This isn’t gonna be fixed in one draft/offseason but we need to get the ball rolling. I’d rather address corner linebacker safety and te with later round picks 3-7 and free agency. Build those lines up with top tier talent. QB is the wildcard tho, if the org thinks there is a franchise qb at our picks in the next three drafts do not hesitate to pick him round 1.

    • Overall, fine.  Wish we landed a guy to pair with Lloyd but I presume this means they're giving Trevin one final year to put it together (72nd overall 2 years back).  Flashed potential year 1, had a dud last year.   R1: Freeling LT - Great value and a need; landed our new long term LT that could end up starting off the bat.  Icky had a terrible injury and is not playing in his contract year.  Walker is what he is on a 1-year rental, who even knows how he fits. You get premier OTs early if you can find em' and he has what you want.  I thought he could have gone as high as 6/CLE pre-draft, so am a big fan of the selection.  Looking at this class, he's one of the guys at the top that is like "okay that's the LT".  Others have this right/left or G/T type discussion about them.  Freeling is an LT.   R2: Hunter NT - We didn't really have anyone replacing A'Shawn's snaps in our rotation.  Wharton & Brown aren't 3 downers so adding Hunter to the mix fills a big void. I dug deep into S and LB this draft so was a bit to zeroed in - In recognize the value and impact add in the trenches. R3: Brazzell WR - Intriguing.  Given our history, I don't really want to place any expectations here, but a different style weapon for Bryce. I pretty much expect a WR drafted yearly with this regime. Other notables.. Hecht C - These are the type of rounds where starting centers have been found.  We got a starter for this year, but Hecht seems pretty capable and I like it for a long term find.  SOLID AF.  Wheatley S - A pretty well regarded safety prospect.  And we see it every year (like this one) safeties get hyped, people think they may go sooner than expected, and the league reminds them how it rolls.  Plenty of nice safeties have been found in the 4th-6th in recent years.  Big fan of Wheatley. Can't say I know enough about Lee or the others.
    • I'm excited. I love situations like this when you could potentially find a diamond in the rough on the cheap. And you know guys like this are gonna put in the work and desire way more than others to be great.
