Supposing we do draft a quarterback in Round One...

He has been pretty good this year. Upper half of the starters in the NFL. I realize most are still upset at him based on how terrible he was last season but that hasn't been this season's results at all.

It is probably unwise to attempt to replace him unless we actually have a decent replacement for him. My guess is, he'll be wearing a Panthers uniform in 2021.

Thats unfortunate and something Hurney would think. Part of the reason we won't retain Moton. Pathetic

Make your case for why he should sit for a year while Bridgewater continues to start or why he should start immediately.

It is valid to take into account things like which quarterback we draft and what we do with the offensive line.

I don’t think you hurt a QB by waiting a year, but you can hurt one by playing him too early.  I would have no problem with him sitting a year.

Also the O-line issues are way overblown on this site.  Pretty much every fan base thinks they have the worst O-line the league.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish this franchise would place more emphasis on that position group (start with resigning Moton) but we aren’t the worst and definitely not so terrible that it will influence my decision to play the rookie.

We have played fairly well this and we have exactly one of those gentlemen under contract for 2021. That's why OL is not even remotely an overblown concern.

I don't think we're in a position as a franchise to use a Top 10 pick on a guy so he can sit on the bench for a year (or 10+ games, whatever).

We need a massive injection of talent across the board. If you're using that Top 10 pick on a QB he'd better beat out Bridgewater in Training Camp or you're gimping the rebuild.

If you don't have a franchise QB and you think there's one on the board, you draft him. Honestly it's just that simple. You can build a great team with a deficiency at any position other than QB.

In 5 years nobody would care if it panned out.

Herbert didn’t beat out Taylor and Mahomes didn’t beat out Smith. You don’t want to rush a guy out there and destroy his confidence. If we also upgrade our offensive line, Teddy will be fine for the first part of the season while a rookie learns from him. Then we can cut Teddy in year 3 and save some money, seems like the perfect scenario.

I’ve seen a lot of folks wanting something other than QB and I am starting to lean that way as well.  If we cant get Trevor or Fields (which we probably can’t) I think maybe we wait a year to draft QB.  Mainly because after those two I am not sure any of those other guys are franchise QBs.  We shouldn’t force that if it isn’t there.  After those 2 the other QB prospects feel like a serious reach in the top 10 to me atp.
