So where are we on Donte now?

Seemed the huddle was bullish on him his rookie year, bear on him sophomore year, and due to injury this year, it seems to be inconclusive.  Personally, I have really liked what I've seen from him this season when he's played and I think he is a definite piece moving forward.  What say you?

Hes fits what the staff wants in a CB, Im not the biggest fan or nothing. I mean panthers need entire OL, TE, and CB overhauls.... Be nice if Djack made it so the panthers only need 4 CBs instead of 5.

Rhules staff needs a real offseason with the players, players like Djack would benefit the most.

He's too small to count on. Injury risk everytime he's on the field

Yeah the durability is no doubt an issue, but I think he's developed into a baller when healthy.  Despite his size, he has made some really impressive and aggressive plays this season...  but, the availability is really important.

Ive actually been pleasantly surprised with the secondary this year relative to where I thought they would be. I dont think we need entire OL or secondary overhauls. I think we need some fresh talent in there. I think Pride has had a nice rookie season and has gotten a ton of experience. He definitely has a lot of room for improvement, but to come in in as a rookie in the covid year and start 16 games for an improving defense...that has me optimistic. Between DJax and Pride.....a full overhaul isnt needed just augmentation.

He made some good plays and tackles last night on one of the best WR in the game.  I think he’ll continue to improve as long as he can stay healthy.  Last year the entire defense was trash, so it’s unreasonable to really single him out for underperforming when even Luke didn’t look like himself.  Biggest problem is his injury history... if he has more nagging injuries next year I don’t think we’ll try to re-sign him if he’s demanding a big deal

He does not like to tackle.  Boston has been playing in the box more lately--maybe because jackson is in---but we need 2 starting DBs.  Jackson can be one, but if he is fragile or scared, I do not want him

I haven’t seen that at all. He’s been one of the most willing to tackle cbs I’ve seen. He’s often coming down hill like a missile at ball carriers, when the opportunity is there. He’s more willing than Boston.

My opinion of him has never really changed. He's been inconsistent from the beginning and has a habit of giving up as many plays as he makes.

With regard to his tackling, I don't know if it's a willingness issue or not but either way he's not very good at it.

(which unfortunately means he fits in with the rest of our secondary just fine)

    • Why don't we just say they can shove the late round draft picks up their ass? If they want a player they will be starting at WR in Week 1, I want a MLB in return that we can start Week 1. Starter for a Starter Not Starter for a draft pick we'll be debating whether or not they should make the final 53 man roster in 2026.
    • Why?   No. This isn't a situation of a player we want to trade because we have no use for them.  He's our starting slot WR, our leader of the young WR room, Bryce's safety option the last 2 years who he has good chemistry with. If the Vikings didn't run into WR trouble, we'd never have been even considering trading him, so why in the world should we give him up for fair market value in a vacuum for Thielen and disregard what losing him off our roster will do for us this year? A 5th round pick in 2026 is a negligible draft pick, especially with this season being so make or break for Bryce and Canales.
    • The Vikings acquiring all these late round picks has me feeling like we're about to see another CMC situation play out here. Trade a player we really like for the equivalent of what we want for them on the draft pick chart, but because of a bunch of late round picks instead of the one pick value we actually want. Which will do the same thing in the end, nothing, because 6th and 7th round picks rarely work out to begin with, or we're just going to use them to move up 10 picks in the 3rd or 4th round to take another DJ Johnson
