Deshaun Watson

What realistically would it take to get Deshaun Watson back in Carolina? He signed a 4 year $156 mil deal and I think everyone including the Texans organization can agree they are FAR from being dangerous in a playoff push within 4 years especially once considering that division. Hypothetically, what if the new GM/coach was looking to get him off their books and get more draft capital to rebuild on cheap contracts? Would this years pick and next years 1st overall pick be enough? Just curious to what some of yall would think about this kinda move considering Watson is still only 25 years old, pair him with DJ, Robby, and a healthy CMC and that just sounds beyond scary.

I think it would take the richest trade package in NFL history, so pass. Houston would be in flames if Watson got traded too.

I honestly think the RKn111 trade killed the blockbuster market. Say it works out and hes a elite QB, but now you can never add young talent around him. So he gets Burrow'd Carr'd RG'd or pulls a luck.

Obviously Watson would be great, but just not realistic. However, for a much smaller trade package I would definitely be on board to trade for Stafford. His cannon with these speedy receivers would be lethal. Trade for Stafford, draft a young QB to develop in the next few years.

This sounds like one of those things I would hear on the New York sports talk stations on one of my work trips to New Jersey.

"Schultz here, first time caller, long time listener.  I think we should trade Teddy, Paradis, and our 3rd round draft choice to Houston for Watson."

"Why on earth do you think they would take that deal?"

"They have a new coach and GM coming in, they aren't going to want Watson because he is from the last regime and they are going to want to put their stamp on the team.  We are giving them a starting QB, starting center, and throwing in a 3rd rounder....why wouldn't they take it?  If not, we'll throw in Grier, but only if they give us their second round draft pick in return."

It made my head hurt then, and it does now.

So we should give up 2 first round picks and she'll out 40.million per year for a QB who has never won a playoff game yet is paid second to Patrick Mahomes. With the salary cap contracting this would be a terrible move.

This absolutely needs context considering who's been running the Texans since Watson has been there, everyone can't get drafted by the Chiefs and Andy Reid

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
