Can Teddy get bigger, stronger and braver

Just like most players, the biggest difference is probably in year one or two! Teddy has been in the league awhile. Plus he's a QB, and most of them aren't Cam-level gym rats. So, no, Teddy is Teddy!

Don’t you remember the bike routes he posted that were hundreds of miles? He’s in shape based on the off-season, he’s not a tub of goo.

That just means that as you said he is who he is and he doesn’t appear to have some magic hidden core. He plays scared and not to lose and his arm strength won’t change. We need to replace him. I’d be up to even save the $8M in 2021 he’s not guaranteed. We don’t need him to mentor a new QB to be a nice guy. What game winning tips will he have? Rhule and the coaches set the tone and I’d rather not learn bad habits.

Serious question. Bridgewater looks a little frail which makes him prone to injury and accounts for some of his deep ball issues. He hasn't really played a full season since before the injury and I have heard most QBs aren't much in the weight room . Has Teddy really been in NFL shape all of these years after largely sitting on the sidelines until this year.  Would his deep ball work better if he put on 15 lbs of muscle and improved his upper and lower body strength. Given we had no off-season last year, guys didn't have a true offseason workout plan like in years past. I wonder if Rhule feels the same way about Teddy needing to bulk up or doesn't think it is an issue. Before I would give up on him I would see if he could improve that arm strength which should improve his confidence..

Seriously, if you give Teddy CMC, a good TE, and a LT and interior OL, he gets bigger, stronger, braver.  Big and strong enough?  Doubtful, but the play could be to do this if the QB does not fall to us.

...I like the fact that he hits receivers in stride and is accurate inside of 20 yards....and they don't have to do a cartwheel to catch the ball..looks great int he 1st qtr...but goes full tard in second half....he could be a game manager and ball distributor.... but dang...that mental lapse kills him everytime..

No, he is who he is. And the weakness is only half his problem. The other half is above the shoulders. He doesn’t go through his reads, locks into receivers and plays scared. I really hope tomorrow is the last game I’ll ever have to see him starting for the Panthers.

Not at all. He’ll always be the 25th to 29th best qb in the league. Sorta accurate, ok at best mobility, pocket awareness is fine I guess. Has the least “it” factor of any player ive ever seen in my life. I genuinely fear for the guy on sacks. If I were a defense, I’d love facing him. That’s the worst thing about him. He’s not bad enough to be replaced immediately but not good enough to be apart of a winning roster. Unless it’s a holdover until Brees comes back with a loaded roster at every other position.

But the short answer is, no.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
