Add Champ Kelly to the List

Yikes...if Champ Kelly played a big role in the Bears drafting Trubisky, then I don't want this guy anywhere near our draft room on the heels of a draft where we very well might be taking a QB with our Top 10 pick.  He was the "director of pro scouting" in 2015 and was promoted in 2017...not sure if that was before or after the 2017 draft.  His former role would at least somewhat distance him from the Trubisky pick since he was in charge of Pro Scouting...so I think that had more to do with Free Agency.

Kelly joined the Chicago Bears in 2015 as the team's director of pro scouting.[3] He was promoted to Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2017.[4] His main responsibilities are grading the top 100 draft prospects, leading the team's efforts in free agency, and advance scouting.

I like casting a wide net, but at some point such a wide net makes you wonder if we have any clue who/what we actually want.

I get the feeling it is as much to do with getting a feel for each candidates (teams they are involved with) team building strategy as much as anything.  The more you know the better you are likely to make the right decision.

I’m sure we know what we want. Probably why we are interviewing so many people - we want the guy who checks all the boxes.

Tepper $$$ almost guarantees us one of the 2-3 best candidates.

I had heard this was totally on the HC for that one, don't know how reliable that was/is.

There can be concern with too much of a pool but we've gotten:

Ireland, Peters, Schaun, Poles, Dodds, Tillis, Adofo-Mensah

Factor in Reese, Kelly, Caserio, etc. and sure, they may have question marks but I can't imagine them outselling the up and comer types who I'd like to think are much more appealing to Tepper.  We want a long term hit on our hands, not a dud.

Will be good for Tepper and Rhule to hear other people ideas on the team.  So the more the merrier.
