Panthers also interviewed Omar Khan

Panthers interview two more GM candidates

Quote

The Panthers pushed their list of interviews for their general manager vacancy to 15 on Monday, and they're close to making a decision.

The team met with Seahawks vice president of football operations Scott Fitterer and Steelers vice president of football and business administration Omar Khan on Monday, the 14th and 15th names to interview over the past eight days.

Fitterer has been with the Seahawks since 2001, and effectively operates as a co-assistant GM under John Schneider there. Khan has a background with Panthers owner David Tepper from his days as a Steelers minority owner.

A hire is expected this week.

And we now have a time frame...

Interesting that Khan comes up after the long line of candidates and Peters still out there.

The ties to Tepper and Suleiman are def there and he is young from a franchise synonymous with building long-term success.

Still prefer Peters or Schoen over Khan, but I don't know enough about Khan other than being the heir-apparent to Colbert.

I wonder if it comes down to Tepper's "guy" or Rhule's "guy". Def an odd day hearing Dodds choosing to move on to Detroit and now these two candidates.

Wow this is ridiculous, I don’t think they really have a clue. Tepper only has money and this team might go downhill fast with him running it

It's not ridiculous. They are honestly probably seeing who offers the most acceptable approach to the rebuild. Id imagine they have these GMs coming in when fully fleshed out  plans for how they envision the franchise rebuild to go. Rushing a hire is ridiculous, being diligent and waiting for the right choice is responsible.

I am starting to feel a bit overlooked.  I have had a few good posts on the huddle over the years.  Checking my phone.....nope.

LOL. Me too, my plan was far superior to Marty's plan this past off-season. I guess they think the magic is gone and maybe I'd pull a Dodds because I'm not dealing with my full deck of comp picks and cap space.
