Carolina Panthers to hire Scott Fitterer as GM

I'm not sure how to take this hiring. It's not Hurney at least but the Seahawks haven't exactly been great at drafts either.

I tend to agree about the drafts but you can't deny they have built consistently competitive teams.  Something that has never happened here since it's inception.  Like I said before, if he can build at team that wins back to back seasons he will be a god here in Panther land.

That's true but in my opinion the Seahawks won a Super Bowl with their approach to team building and they became way to overconfident. Russell Wilson has been carrying that team on his back for the past four years. They wouldn't be anywhere near competitive without Wilson.

I just hope Rhule is the ultimate talent evaluator and the final decisions are his.

Will he still have a head if he doesn't draft a QB in the first?

No QB and a draft like the Seachickens have had since his last promotion? Lol at that point I wouldn't care, might be more fun then the games will be.

You’d put Shaq Thompson ahead of DK Metcalf? I think you’d be the only one.

Also if you’re comparing draft hauls, it’s good to remember that we’ve consistently been in the top half of the draft and they’ve been at the bottom.

That’s not what I said. Below is what I said, about our 8 “good” starters in total. Also, 6 of our 8 are pick 16+ and 3 are second rounders so where they picked doesn’t matter since their first rounders have been crap. Also, we have more than double their good starters over the last 5 years even with Marty throwing away 4 day two picks. Our last 5 years of drafting have been way, way better even with tons of misses.

In the last 5 years, I’d put CMC, Shaq, Moton, Samuel, Moore, Burns, Brown and Chinn so far above Seattle’s good starters.

It's pretty standard procedure. Same thing happened with Rhule.

It’s definitely NOT standard procedure at all. I’ve never seen an announcement from a team for an offer. It’s strange, but likely nothing to overthink.

Marty hasn't actually been asked to interview yet. They have four other candidates for GM so far.

Prior speculation that he might have a role other than GM there is looking very possible for the moment.

(also conceivable that he has no role at all)

I bet he takes a role in the front office that is more on the business side and less in football operations

Heck, maybe even public relations.

He was a cap specialist here before he was a GM (not real sure that skill set translated when he made the change).
