High draft pick..take advantage of it

How many times will a young team on the upswing have a top ten pick. Every year you get better and fall farther down in the draft. Need a QB? Very talented group this year and we should get a good one out of the bunch.

Even if we trade down, we won't have to sell the farm to do it.

Sure D W is very good. Unless we trade CMC, possibly another good young player, and draft picks it isn't going to happen.

Not sure it's worth it in the long run.....

What you got?

I'd say this is the approach most likely to take place. I can't see this staff putting all their eggs in to one basket one year in with a new GM who made his name as a scout. They will try build this team the way the good teams have always been built. You need a foundation of talent, not a lone superstar. I can't think of a team that has been successful throwing their draft capital away like that.

You speak as though we're bereft of talent. Like Greenie says, a young QB of this caliber that hasn't even hit his prime yet doesn't happen. That being said, I'm good if it happens or not.

I can't think of a better way to take advantage of it than packaging it for Deshaun.

I'd have to say using it to pick our own franchise quarterback without having to give away a bunch of other stuff that we can use to rebuild the team would be superior.

Granted, it's also a huge risk.

We have a few great and promising players. We have little depth and no offensive line. The floor of your roster is more important than the ceiling IMO.

0.0% chance Stafford is dealt for a 3rd or 4th rounder.  A few teams would probably happily ship out their 1st rounder for him.

The highest ive seen him project is a 2nd round pick. His injury history doesnt help the trade value. It's not a matter of missed games, its that matter of the beating his body has taken.

Unless they build the offensive line then we will see a repeat of the early Cam Newton debacle. Sure D.W may have better tools, but he is an athletic QB who can run with a rocket arm....just like Cam was.

The oline was always swiss cheese during his prime years. Got his ass beat and he was never able to fulfill his potential.

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
