Teams already reaching out to Detroit for Stafford

Let me ask you guys, what makes you think Stafford would want to come to the Panthers?

I just don't see it

He is from the south.  College ball at GA.  The Carolinas are nicer than Detroit.   No snow. Cost of living is good.

and we had 3 WRs go over 1000 total yards last year...and CMC.  No team will offer a better set of skill position players.

that’s the pitch.

Let's see

Lions:

Just now blowing up and starting over with a new regime.

Little to no weapons

Defense, no young core pieces that have stood out.

Panthers:

Already began the rebuild

#1 RB in the NFL

#2 WR that's better than Detroit's #1

3 key young core defensive players under the age of 23

I agree that we are one year ahead of Detroit, but I would argue that Robby is on par with Golladay, and the latter is only 27. CMC might be RB1, but Swift will be a top-8 back in the NFL very, very soon...the kid is dangerous.

If I'm Matt Stafford, Carolina isn't moving the needle for me when there's teams like Pittsburgh, Indy, and SF that are so much closer than us.

If I were Stafford, I would be less than impressed

Golladay is a FA and may not even be back in Detroit next season.

Its Hard to project Swift to be a top 8 back soon.  He wasnt even a top 3 back from his own rookie class this season when healthy.  So needs to pump the brakes there

Ok. Do the pitch of a team we are competing with.   Outside of SF and Pitt...we got a decent offer and I don’t know how thirsty they really are for a QB.

We weren’t very close heading into the 2003 season or the 2015 season.  No one we calling that.

this mantra of we are way off still doesn’t fly.  We are missing QB play.   You get that and you can bandaid the holes on D.

Tampa went out and bought the best roster.  The rest of the NFC? They all got issues on their rosters too.

If we're talking teams on the cusp/playoff ready without a QB, then you look to LAR, Indy & NO.  There's no way in hell they're shipping him to Chicago.

Otherwise, we're in a much better spot than WFT, Philly, NE, HOU, DEN.  Though if I had to guess, think Denver gets him at the end of the day.  He's very much the type they look for.

I think a team like Indy would be in the catbird seat for Stafford’s services. They’re a QB shy of being in the playoffs again and Reich is a QB’s guru and good HC.

Indy?  went 11-5 and QB just retired.  Patriots? WFT?  Denver?

There are plenty of teams you could see Stafford as a good upgrade and from the outside looking in we don't look as appealing as a lot of the fans on this forum think.

    • I went to McDonald's at lunch got a combo for $12. It was ok. The next day I ordered lunch from Cracker Barrel got the broccoli cheddar chicken, steak fries, and 2 biscuits paid $12 with tip. Guess which was better.

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
