Sound's to me like the writer of this article is a pussy.

Love what I read in the article from Rhule. Holding players accountable, no plays off, staying focused. I like it

I mean...if this doesn't scream "my pee wee coach didn't treat me well" idk what does

Writer seems to think Rhule should’ve handed out juice boxes and cookies instead.  Sure they learn nothing about taking the game to the next level but hey, it’s a glorified scrimmage plus he wouldn’t have hurt anyone’s feelings. Such horrible traits on display from someone who gets paid millions of dollars to motivate people to win.

Guy should go write for Emily Post or something. It’s a billion dollar industry and you have to prove it or look at another career.  Realizing that before getting cut could be a career saver for some of these young men.

This is why he died in the Revenant.

From the article...

Rhule unintentionally presents a meatheaded synthesis of how football worships through-the-whistle, no-plays-off toughness, and he’s doing it at the Senior Bowl. Sure, more obscure prospects can make their name at the event, but they’re mainly trying not to get hurt before the draft. It’s a barely coherent speech that hinges on him being loud. He seems a bit unsure about whether he wants a more convincing performance of coachability, or simply more discipline.

So I guess he yelled at some kids and might have hurt their feelings and stuff.

SOMEBODY STOP HIM!

Keep in mind you are referencing a guy whose lack of career aspirations have him writing for The Defector. What would he know about being motivated to be better in his career?

ALL OF OUR BULLSHIT,
NONE OF THEIRS
This is Defector, a new sports blog and media company. We made this place together, we own it together, we run it together. Without access, without favor, without discretion, and without interference.

@Mr. Scot

This is their mission statement. So....basically just a bunch of us here that started a website.

Fitting.

    • Then why are they paying QBs so much compared to other players? QB are making so much it's harder and harder to pay other players. If a guy plays like 1 of 11 then there pay should be in line with that. Not all QB should be breaking the bank just because your next or a former 1st rounder There is a reason they say try to win it all on a QB rookie deal because after that they can cripple a team on what it can do. I would rather not do that for a bottom 1/3 QB. Cam and Jake have been the only QBs worth investing long term into this team has had I would rather not lower the bar. If a guy don't got the IT factor and it shows I would rather not invest long term into them and keep looking

    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
