The great news about this is that this basically confirms Lions will not draft a QB in the first round. One less team to worry about

I wouldn’t say it confirms that at all. Less likely for sure but still possible they could draft a QB. Goff isn’t a franchise guy and I believe with the Rams still on the hook for most of the guarantees, the Lions could move on from him easily in a year or two.

I still think they take one. In perfect position for one and now have the capital for it not to matter. Plus he can sit behind Goff if needed and not only get experience but kill one year of Goffs horrible contract.

If Lions get a top QB in the draft and all this capital as well, I have respect for these moves. Smart, setting themselves up for the future.

I don’t think they will. The new coach said it will be a longer rebuilding process and I believe they will use the picks to fill all the other holes on the team. They have had decent QB play and not been able to contend so that should be the last thing they focus on now and they will give Goff time to show that he can be the future. The bee GM drafted Goff so he will wan to stick with him short term to see if he is the future and if not they will have multiple first round picks the next few years if they want a QB

Rams fuged themselves by overpaying Goff and now have to pay the price if they want to win now. If Stafford was younger I could agree with this trade.

I’ve been following LA somewhat hard since McVay showed up and I’m not surprised by this. They’ve mortgaged their future for stars (Goff, Cooks, Ramsey) and have still proven successful.

Yeah, that price was way to high.  I figured Stafford was going to cost more than most thought but 2 firsts and a third?  Damn.

A lot of y'all are overlooking that a good chunk of those draft picks were literally just to get the Lions to absorb Goff's contract. That's why a lot of us have been saying Teddy has negative trade value. We'd literally have to give up draft assets to get another team to take him off our hands.

Not overlooking that whatsoever.  Teddys deal is nothing like Goff but 2 firsts and a third is insane regardless.
