After cutting KK Short today we saved $8,603,250 in cap, and will eat $11,017,000 in dead cap this season.

Total dead cap so far in 2021 is right at $20,172,807 thanks to a few players on the books including KK. Top 3 in dead cap for next season is below:

Kawaan Short: $11,017,000

Luke Kuechly: $7,132,514

Graham Gano: $1,537,500

Total Cap spending currently before any more Cuts or Restructures:

$141,552,411

The cap is rumored to be around 180 million which will leave us right at $38,447,589 in cap currently before any other moves are made.

Next season we will be in wonderful shape with Cap, and should have a Teddy 2 gloves off the books as well other than his dead cap hit.

Next low hanging fruit is Stephen Weatherly with a cap hit of $7,906,250.

if cut he will carry 2 million flat in dead cap so we will save $5,906,250.

This will bring our total cap space to:

$44,353,839

That’s certainly a lot better than most teams... feeling pretty optimistic.

Your numbers seemed too good to be true so I had to double check. Unfortunately the number you're quoting doesn't include our dead cap. Our cap hit is actually the number you quoted plus the dead cap number you mentioned. So you have to take out another $20 million. So we actually have about $18 million right now. Of course that number will be a fair bit higher after more obvious cuts take place like Weatherly. I figure when all is said and done we'll have about $30 million without trying and could be significantly more if we wanted to get creative or offload some contributors but that seems unnecessary.

Maybe I'm misreading the amount we have available, but if we have $24M in cap space and you have to earmark ~ $10M for rookies, we have $14M in cap space.

Tagging Moton would be around $14M.

I wonder if eating KK's hit this year and trying to have a clean sheet in '22 by Suleiman is an indicator of our direction for a QB. A QB on a rookie contract vs. Watson/Wentz/vet is looking more and more like the chess move.

2022 will be our year to start finishing off the roster. Rhule's third year, Teddy off the books and two rookie classes on the books.
