Deshaun Watson has lawsuit filed against him by Tony Buzbee

all I know is that if I had been assaulted by someone like Watson and wanted to seek justice, I'd have definitely sent my lawyer back to the drawing board for a better statement than that sketchy-af gobbledygook. I'm not sure it could have come off more slimy and on-the-surface disingenuous if it had been created in a lab.

which is what makes me think that the goal here might not be to seek justice for the alleged victim, but to drag Deshaun through the mud for a week or two. which somehow would be even slimier than my first impression.

I hope the victim's true wishes are being represented in the lawyer's statement and actions, but I am rather dubious at this point.

False accusers need to get punishment as well in my opinion.  Even if it's eventually proven that the accused did nothing wrong the whirling poo storm caused by those types of accusations doesn't just poof into non-existence .

I had a drunk theory I pitched to some friends many moons ago that people that file false police reports or bring up false allegations that result in criminal charges should face the exact same penalty as the accused. I also thought this should apply to prosecutors and cops. It would never work but it would be the fairest of all systems.

That attorney seems like a scumbag

Having had a brother who was not only a paralegal himself but also married to one, I've been around my fair share of lawyers.

Yes there are good ones, but I've also met plenty that I wouldn't turn my back on.

This one comes off like a "celebrity" lawyer, i.e. someone who maximizes his own exposure, and kind of a douche.

According to one blurb I saw though, he was also at one time rated one of the best trial lawyers in the country.

It sounds like the allegations are coming from a masseuse who said Watson “went too far”.

"Went too far" is a pretty broad statement that could mean a lot of things.

Depending on which version of the story you read, Peyton Manning either just pulled his underwear down to moon a teammate or full on shoved his crotch in someone's face.

No other details on this yet that I've seen.

He was once sued for defamation when trying to drum up business to sue a Houston surgeon.

Pretty scummy stuff.

There are few men on earth that can’t have an “allegation” of sorts against them. So much gray area with women. It’s often not that black and white and the lines are often blurred. A lot of women want you to be aggressive and chase them, but a little too aggressive and you can find yourself in this type of situation. I’ve been baited before and I’m not even famous, I can only imagine some of the situations these guys find themselves in.

Not saying that’s what happened in this situation, but Deshaun is a guy that deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, I had a chick I was mildly dating a couple of years ago throw an accusation of being "raped" by a mutual friend. It was an event at his house(he is married with a kid and both of them were there at the time) with a lot of people around and no one saw anything like she described. It was quite the tale and wouldn't have gone unnoticed by everyone, plus it involved the dudes wife. After a little asking around, she had fabricated the entire event because she got drunk and started being sexually aggressive towards basically everyone there. This was her attempt to mask her poor behavior.

The worst part is, sexual assault/harassment is a HUGE problem. The pieces of poo that throw these things out there do the maximum damage not to the people they are accusing but to actual victims of sexual assault. I feel that way about anyone who uses an accusation falsely. You ruin the credibility of real victims.

And we all know that the "friends" or coworkers of these people know that. The same way dirty, crooked ass cops get defended by their POS coworkers keeping the "blue line." If you know someone throwing out ANY sort of false allegation that can ruin someone's reputation, career or LIFE, you are just ask guilty as those people who stay silent when they know of someone like a Harvey Weinstein or some of these other monsters that prey on people.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
